The Rot on the Right

rotIt was starting to become obvious to me a couple of years ago, when so many “conservatives” and “Christians” whored out their principles to whole-heartedly support a RINO in my state who had repeatedly betrayed their stated values as governor.

After what I’ve seen in the past year, as so many “conservatives” and “Christians” have rejected far more ethical and far more conservative presidential candidates, in favor of the moral and liberal cesspool of a presidential candidate we ended up with, there is no longer any doubt.

The Right has become, for all intents and purposes, morally corrupt like the Left has been for many years.

Any doubt I might have had has been removed in the past week as I have watched “conservatives” and “Christians” shrug their shoulders over the latest (the latest; not the first, but the latest) filth we have learned about Donald Trump.  A huge number of these “conservatives” and “Christians” I once called allies have even excused and defended Trump’s behavior.

Back during the Clinton years, people on the Right used to say “Character counts.”

Apparently it doesn’t matter anymore.

All that matters now to the Right is winning. So long as the guy with our jersey wins, who cares what he’s like or what he believes in.

It doesn’t matter that Donald Trump has given thousands of dollars for years to the same liberal politicians who are destroying this once-great nation.

It doesn’t matter that Donald Trump thinks Planned Parenthood does great work, that his pro-abortion judge sister would make a great Supreme Court justice, or that Trump has probably paid for an abortion himself.

It doesn’t matter that Donald Trump has hired illegal aliens.

It doesn’t matter that Donald Trump supports the same global warming agenda Hillary Clinton does.

It doesn’t matter that Donald Trump supports government health care like Hillary Clinton does.

It doesn’t matter that Donald Trump flip-flops and lies about his positions so much he makes Mitt Romney look reliable.

It doesn’t matter that he tells vicious lies about other people (Ben Carson is a child molester, Ted Cruz’s father Rafael was involved in the JFK assassination, etc.)

It doesn’t matter that he sought out married women for adultery, committed adultery on his own wives, talks about women in the most debased terms, and admittedly capitalizes on his fame and fortune to bed women.

It doesn’t matter that Donald Trump is perfectly fine with calling his own daughter a “piece of ass” and discusses her body with other men.

All that matters is that he calls himself a “Republican.” Oh, and he isn’t Hillary Clinton either.

Founder and Second President John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

The American Right has proved two things this week. The first is that we are, without any doubt, no longer a moral or religious people. The second is that this nation can no longer be governed or protected by the U.S. Constitution.

Which means all those freedoms we have cherished for over 200 years?  Wave goodbye to them. They’re already on borrowed time.

As Benjamin Franklin pointed out, “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”

America has indeed chosen corrupt and vicious masters. It remains to be seen which one they will ultimately end up with. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter much, because either way, our liberty and our future are screwed.

I share your sentiments. Thanks for having the guts to share it.
The way so many Christians are glossing over Trumps’ lack of character is shocking to say the least and their defensive arguments are so weak and without merit.

Without a doubt these are the two most disgusting and unworthy presidential candidates ever.

I’m not only chagrined, I’m embarrassed for this great nation.

    • Thank you Dave. Standing for conservatism and Christian values has become pretty lonely in the past year, but someone has to do it.

As usual you are right Bob. These candidates are a direct reflection of US the voters. Not all of us but the majority of the Citizens of this Country have abandoned Morals and Values. Now we are left with this.
It has occurred to me many times this past year that THIS is how a Hitler gets elected. I still maintain that at the end of the day on November 8th ether Trump or Clinton will be elected President of these United States. I plan to vote AGAINST Clinton! I have never been a Trump Supporter.
What ever the result, I doubt very much that the Country as we have known it will survive. We shall see.

    God Help Us!

    • Thanks.

This election has proven that there’s nothing but tatters left of the once-strong moral fiber that formed the foundation for the greatest nation in history. It would take a really big moving of God’s spirit (and some serious repentance from a very stiff-necked people) for this nation to turn back from the self-destructive course it’s on.
