Pre-Flood and Early Post-Flood People, Part Six

In part five, I reported that because of all the research that David Down did in Egypt, a new time line has emerged, one which is considerably shorter than the previous Egyptian time line.
What did David Down find out during the 48 years he was involved in archeological discoveries in Egypt, the Middle East and Israel which led him to this new time line? He found out that Egyptian history had no dating system which involved a continuous counting of years.
What is meant by a continuous counting of years? It is the marking of time that we do with a Christian calendar. For example, let’s say we are now living in the year 2016 which is supposedly 2,016 years after the birth of Christ, although the date of the birth of Christ is debatable. We also know that next year will be 2017, that ten years later will be 2027, and if the Lord tarries, a hundred years later will be the year 2127.
Notice the advantage this gives us. It enables us to date events which happened in different years on the same continuous time line. Therefore, we know Columbus discovered America in 1492, the members of the Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, and Abraham Lincoln died on April 15, 1865. Notice all three of these events took place at different times in history but because of our continuous counting of years, we see how they relate to each other on the time line.
But if we were people with an Egyptian view of time, we would not have this kind of knowledge because we would have no continuous counting of years. The reason we would have no continuous counting of years is because time always stopped when the Pharaoh died, and the counting would begin again in the first year of the new Pharaoh. The first year of the new pharaoh would be year one. Therefore, if you were an Egyptian living in Egypt, you would know if it was the 10th year of the Pharaoh or the 15th year or 20th year, but you would not have any larger frame of reference.
If our minds worked that way, we would know we were in the 5th year or the 7th year of Obama’s presidency. But we would have no larger frame of reference. Our minds would think totally within the context of Obama’s reign. There would be no ongoing time line. This means you wouldn’t know what century you were living in, or the precise dates of events in the past.
Therefore, how did scholars come up with the old date of 3,200 B.C as the date Egyptian civilization started? They relied on a list of 31 dynasties of Pharaohs, a list which was compiled after Alexander the Great made Egypt part of his Greek Empire. It was compiled after the time of the Pharaohs.
Compiling the information that late was a problem because a lot of information concerning events was taken from inscriptions, and inscriptions were the state-run media of that day. Accordingly, they were likely embellished.
Also, in working with that list of 31 dynasties, early scholars assumed that the pharaohs in those dynasties reigned in order, one after another. Notice that word assumed. They simply assumed the pharaohs reigned in order, i.e.the pharaohs of the 10th dynasty would be followed by the ones in the 11th dynasty and so on.
But now we know that this was not the case. The list was not a succession of kings occupying the throne of Egypt one after another. Instead, the list often included several kings reigning at the same time in different regions. For example, at one point in the 8th Century B.C. there were four dynasties ruling at the same time. This is why the book Unwrapping the Pharaohs says, “It is not a matter of whether some dynasties were contemporary rather than successive, but how many dynasties were contemporary and for how long.” [1]
Please notice the effect this has on the Egyptian time line. It shrinks the time line. You go from 3,200 years down to 2,100 years according to David Down. The end result of this is that a strong case can now be made for a much shorter Egyptian history.
Now, if you have done any reading at all on early man, if you have taken courses in anthropology or seen movies or television programs on early man, no doubt, you have been exposed to the viewpoint of evolution, and the thought is crossing your mind, “Where did he get this information? What about stone implements and living in caves? What about cave art? What about the time before writing? What about Heidelberg man, Peking man, Lucy, Neanderthal Man. and all those others which show stages in man’s evolution?
In responding to this, the first thing I would do is remind you that evolution is based on lies. For instance, it is based on the assumption that all things were not good at the beginning.
Furthermore, evolution carries with it a view of history that takes God out of the picture. With God out of the picture, God did not make the world in which we live. God did not make humanity, God does not rule over history, and wisdom and knowledge do not come from God.
What we are left with is the struggle of man against nature and people against each other without God being involved at all. Therefore, the view of evolution is being presented by people who have no knowledge of God and no understanding of things from God’s perspective.
Therefore, when you run into someone or a book or a program presenting the view of evolution, remember it is based on assumptions which deny God as a major factor. So look for the assumptions. These assumptions are lies.
For example, If we were to examine what evolutionists claim to be the ancestors of modern humanity, we would discover that all of these were mislabeled. Lucy, for instance, was a monkey. Peking man is now considered by many to have been an ape. Nebraska man was a pig. Java Man and Piltdown Man were frauds. The Neanderthals were early post-Flood people. And Heidelberg man was a normal man. They were all mislabeled and do not provide the missing link that evolutionists are desperately seeking.
Now with that being the case, some people who refuse to believe in God would say that people came here from another planet. However, the nearest star beyond our sun is thirty trillion miles from here. Even traveling at the speed of light, it would take beings 4.4 years to get here. Sorry, reader. That won’t work either.
Now, as for the research on the gradual development of civilization, that has been done in Europe. Europe is the land of cave dwellings and cave art. Europe is the land which shows gradual progress from crude stone implements, no cereals, no domesticated animals and no pottery, as well as no established settlements, to more refined stone and metal tools and weapons as well as cereals, domesticated animals and permanent settlements.
Now, it is important that these things turn up in Europe, and that they do not turn up in the Middle East. The reason is Europe has been rejected as the birth place of humanity. The reason Europe has been rejected as the birth place of humanity is because all signs point to the people in Europe as well as other places as having migrated from the Middle East.
The middle east is the birthplace of humanity. As to the place in the middle east, the best guess seems to be the highlands of Iran. This is important because the ark landed on Mount Ararat which is on the eastern edge of Turkey. If you were to look at a map, you would see that Iran borders on Turkey, making the highlands of Iran very close to where the ark landed.
How then does one explain the cave dwellings and the cave art in Europe? How does one explain the gradual development of civilization there? One reason might be the fact that Europe is in the northern latitudes and during the Ice Age the northern latitudes were rather inhospitable.
Also, remember what Job 12:23 says, He makes nations great and destroys them. Of course, the ones He destroys are the ones who become evil. Having said that, just very shortly later in verses 24 and 25, we are told one of the things God does to destroy nations who are evil. Those verses say, He takes away the understanding of the chiefs of the people of the earth, and makes them wander in a pathless wilderness. They grope in the dark without light, and He makes them stagger like a drunken man.—Job 12:24-25
Notice here, this is an example of degeneration, an example of the loss of knowledge and skills, an example of the loss of a high level of civilization. If you want an example, you don’t have to look further than the Mayans. Once a great nation, the Mayans lost it all.
Now what I hope you would get out of this is that when you hear someone give an opinion which disputes the Bible, you consider their assumptions and the assumptions of the people they looked to as their authorities on history. Are they like the archeologists who just assumed that the Pharaohs reigned on the same throne one after another?
Also, ask these people how they see the wisdom, the power and the understanding of God impacting their view. I suspect their answer will reveal that they have only considered what secular scholars have had to say on the topic and never considered how the secular scholar’s interpretation does violence to the understanding of God. Where are they getting their information, and what are the assumptions behind the people who are promoting that interpretation?
