For Trump, Words Don’t Matter
If you didn’t already know this, you’re an idiot. But I’ll lay it out anyway, because idiots are dangerous and people need to be warned about idiots and idiocy just as people need to be warned away from dangerous animals and treacherous roads.
It isn’t hard for the rational person to figure out that if Donald Trump has hired foreign labor–including illegal aliens–in the past, the odds are against him following through on his new-found immigration control rhetoric and actually doing anything to deal with our nation’s illegal alien problem.
It isn’t hard for the thinking person to figure out that if Donald Trump’s morals have been derived from the sewer for the past several decades, he is NOT the one to point this nation back toward a standard of virtue and upright behavior.
It isn’t tough to grasp that someone who believes that unconstitutional and massively wasteful functions of government are “top functions of government” probably isn’t a good choice if you want to restore the federal government to constitutional limits and restore respect for said constitution.
It doesn’t require a Herculean feat of intellectual prowess to glean that someone who says he would appoint a pro-abortion judge to the Supreme Court and who has said he wants to undermine the pro-life plank of the GOP platform probably isn’t anywhere near what we need to protect the innocent and keep the Supreme Court within constitutional confines.
It isn’t difficult to figure out that if someone has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past several decades financially supporting the kind of people who are running our nation into the ground, he probably isn’t the most reliable person to now fight those same people on the political battleground.
It’s not that hard to understand that if a politician is “projecting an image” and “playing a part” that is “evolving,” anything he promises or says is thoroughly unreliable and not likely to actually happen once he gets what he wants.
So it shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that Donald Trump senior adviser Barry Bennett is now calling Donald Trump’s bold and brash policy initiatives “suggestions”, and when someone attempts to cash those brassy promises, says “This ‘words matter’ stuff, I mean, this is ridiculous.”
Yeah, decent Americans do still think “words matter.” We think when you say something, you should mean it, and you should do everything in your power to come through on what you promise to people.
We hold our friends and associates accountable for being consistent, don’t we (or they aren’t our friends and associates for long)? Most conservatives even attempt to hold other Republicans accountable for betrayals, haven’t we? You know, in the same way we held accountable other RINOs who said one thing and did another.
But like I said, if you haven’t figured out by now that Donald Trump was NEVER a reliable agent of the small number of conservative policies he promoted this election season, you’re a complete idiot.
I’m not talking about those who find themselves caught in the terrifying conundrum of the apparent choice between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, and sincerely seeking to minimize the damage to this once-great nation. While I’ve gone with “the lesser of two evils” in the past, I just can’t do it anymore. But I understand it, and while I think too many of us have done that for far too long, I understand and respect the sincerity there. No, the idiots are the ones who believed from the beginning that Donald Trump was a reliable conservative who was going to restore this nation to its historic path of greatness, or who have managed to convince themselves of that delusion now. It is an assault to truth to claim Donald Trump is a conservative, or that he possesses any significant measure of the integrity needed to move this nation back to its founding principles.
Meanwhile, understand that if you’re one of these people claiming Donald Trump possesses the ability to “make America great again,” the rest of us know you’re an idiot. Let that be a motivator for you to pull your head out as soon as possible and join the thinking world. We’ve all been idiots about something at some point; the key is to stop being an idiot as soon as possible. America needs as many thinking people as possible if we and our God-given liberties are to survive.
