Time to Shrink the Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration was created in 1935 and oversees three huge unconstitutional programs that provide benefits to millions of Americans: Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI), Disability Insurance (SSDI), and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

SSA consumes one-quarter of the us budget, spending $914 billion a year, around $7,600 for each U.S. household.

The taxes that go to pay for this bloated bureaucracy would be better spent in the economy by people managing their own retirement plans, insurance plans, and contributing to charity programs that they can personally ensure are responsible.

Even with these taxes, Social Security has unfunded obligations of $23 TRILLION.

Even though workplace accommodations and access for the disabled are greater than ever, the ratio of disabled workers per disability insurance recipient is shrinking, having gone from 31 workers per recipient in 1990 to 14 workers per recipient today.

The Cato Institute, which produced this video, has a plan to partially privatize Social Security (such as Third World countries like Chile have long-since done with success), and Social Security trustees admit this would return the program to solvency.

If you keep doing the same grossly inefficient and wasteful things you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting grossly inefficient and wasteful results.

Let’s abandon this Leftist infatuation with socialism that has proven once again that it doesn’t work, and return to the American way: freedom, personal responsibility, and the free market.
