The New No Religious Test Clause

banned BIble(aka: True Christians Need Not Apply!)

May we look at our past, see our present, and predict the future to see how it stands. Let me lay it out…

“No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.” – Article VI

Though we consider the religious forms and ideas of our fathers no longer adequate, the quest for the good life is still the central task for mankind. Man is at last becoming aware that he alone is responsible for the realization of the world of his dreams, that he has within himself the power for its achievement. He must set intelligence and will to the task. -Humanist Manifesto I

Traditional religions are surely not the only obstacles to human progress. Other ideologies also impede human advance. Some forms of political doctrine, for instance, function religiously, reflecting the worst features of orthodoxy and authoritarianism, especially when they sacrifice individuals on the altar of Utopian promises. Purely economic and political viewpoints, whether capitalist or communist, often function as religious and ideological dogma. – Humanist Manifesto II

Thus engaged in the flow of life, we aspire–with–informed conviction that humanity has the ability to progress toward its highest ideals. The responsibility for our lives and the kind of world in which we live is ours and ours alone. – Humanist Manifesto III

Based on the current cultural and political climate perpetuated by ‘progressive’ forces, the new Acid Test for Public Service and social acceptance could read thus:

Dear Christian Candidate,

Do you believe that God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and all that lies therein?

Do you believe that Jesus Christ is His only begotten Son who has come down and sacrificed himself to restore fallen humanity? Do you believe the miraculous account of His birth, death, resurrection, and ascension to be historically accurate and applicable/essential to the restoration of God’s creation?

Do you believe that humanity is wholly misguided and corruptible in its natural state and susceptible to all forms of manipulation, extortion, self-absorption, self-destruction, and left unchecked, will readily sacrifice the good of the masses for its own temporal gain, glory, and preservation?

Do you reject the theory [that the sum of human existence in all its complexity, rationality, uniformity, diversity, spirituality, connectedness, consciousness, and innate conscientiousness has ultimately come to be in a manner that defies all logical probability as per carefully presented proposals that infer ironclad validity and empirical certainty and omits essential, observable natural realities to establish a suspension of belief that expands the explanatory limits of unguided, unassisted naturalism to achieve highly advanced outcomes bordering on miraculous] most commonly known as evolution?

Do you believe that those who act in a manner that defies the special design, natural order, complimentary standard, and emotional stability of the greater community and are willing to place their own needs and desires above the health and unity of society in both the natural and spiritual realms of human existence are to be respected and loved as equal members and beneficiaries of God’s creative purpose who nonetheless act (to their own detriment) on propensities that threaten their own perfect design? Do you believe that they should be sensitively guarded and protected (instead of encouraged) from proceeding thus, but rather seek to fulfill a higher and more blessed state of being?

Do you believe that all ethics and morality (in both the active and passive sense) are wholly derived from the Ten Commandments of God (Thou shalt not lie, steal, etc.) that are encompassed in the essential command to love God with all thy heart and your neighbor as yourself, and that although we are unable to keep these commands perfectly (even in our redemptive state) we are to evoke God and support each other in living properly, honorably, righteously, ethically, lawfully, and truly before God and man?

*If you have answered ‘YES’ to any of these questions, we find you wholly objectionable to serve as a public representative. If you attempt to do so you will be aggressively slandered and viciously maligned. Now prepare to take your rightful place deep underground.

Despite the drastic and concentrated attack on all things Christian in contemporary American society, our retort is twofold:

1. Stop Forcing Your Immorality On Us

2. If There Is No God, There Are No Rights

“The principle aim of society is to protect individuals in the enjoyment of those absolute rights, which were vested in them by the immutable laws of nature.” – Sir William Blackstone

* May we always be ready and able to charitably Share and Defend!

“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.” – Ben Franklin

“Give up money, give up fame, give up science, give the earth itself and all it contains rather than do an immoral act. And never suppose that in any possible situation, or under any circumstances, it is best for you to do a dishonorable thing, however slightly so it may appear to you.” – Thomas Jefferson

“Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled either by a power within them or by a power without them; either by the Word of God or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible or by the bayonet.” – Robert Winthrop

“Indeed, the right of a society or government to [participate] in matters of religion will hardly be contested by any persons who believe that piety, religion, and morality are intimately connected with the well being of the state and indispensable to the administrations of civil justice. The promulgation of the great doctrines of religion—the being, and attributes, and providence of one Almighty God; the responsibility to Him for all our actions, founded upon moral accountability; a future state of rewards and punishments; the cultivation of all the personal, social, and benevolent virtues—these never can be a matter of indifference in any well-ordered community. It is, indeed, difficult to conceive how any civilized society can well exist without them.” – Joseph Story

“Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.” – JFK
