The New America: Leftist Double-Standard

unequal_double_standard_justiceDon’t you just love the liberal version of America? A place where there are two sets of rules: one for the people with the power to force their will on others, and another set for those others.

While it is apparently unacceptable in Colorado for a Christian business to refuse to participate in the counterfeiting of marriage because it violates their religious liberty (you know, the first freedom protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, as well as protected by virtually every state constitution and several dozen state Religious Freedom Restoration Acts (RFRA)), it is perfectly acceptable for a pro-homosexual business to refuse to acknowledge that marriage can only be formed by a man and a woman.

From the Denver Channel:

Last week, the Colorado Civil Rights Division ruled that Denver’s Azucar Bakery did not discriminate against William Jack, a Christian from Castle Rock, by refusing to make two cakes with anti-gay messages and imagery that he requested last year.

The dispute began March 13, 2014 when Jack went to the bakery at 1886 S. Broadway and requested two cakes shaped like bibles. He asked that one cake have the image of two groomsmen holding hands in front of a cross with a red “X” over them. He asked that the cake be decorated with the biblical verses, “God hates sin. Psalm 45:7″ and “Homosexuality is a detestable sin. Leviticus 18:2″, according to the Civil Rights Divisions’ decision.

On the second bible-shaped cake, Jack also requested the image of the two groomsmen with the red “X”. He wanted it decorated with the words “God loves sinners” and “While we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Romans 5:8.”

Apparently in the Leftist lexicon, it is “hateful and offensive” to acknowledge what every civilization throughout history has recognized instinctively (that marriage can only be formed by a man and a woman), but it is not “hateful and offensive” to make a mockery of marriage by counterfeiting it, to undermine the health and prosperity of society‘s children who depend on marriage being a strong institution, to deliberately rob children of a mother or a father and the stability such an environment brings to child rearing, to declare war on religion and force people to violate their consciences and surrender their religious liberty, and contribute to putting taxpayers on the hook for over $12 billion in consequences for weakening marriage and family.

No, declaring open war on morality, freedom, and family isn’t “hateful and offensive” at all, according to the Left.  It’s just part of the plan for the glorious revolution.

It should be noted that, even though I don’t support forcing any business owner to do something they don’t want to do, this pro-homosexual bakery doesn’t even have the justification of religious freedom upon which to hang their refusal of service. No religion in the world has doctrine which says marriage consists of two men or two women, and no objection based on adherence to another religion regarding the Christian scripture requested was mentioned, so religious freedom is not a factor here. Just a simple desire not to provide service.

Again, no concrete reason based on a higher moral principle is required for an enemy of traditional American values to refuse service, but even First Amendment-protected religious liberty isn’t good enough to protect a Christian business owner from being forced to violate his conscience.

So how does it feel now, knowing that we no longer live in an America where the rule of law reigns supreme, that we no longer live in an America where there is only one standard by which all Americans are judged, that people who believe in the values that produced the greatest nation in history are second-class citizens…an America where good is “evil” and evil is “good”?
