According to information passed on to me originating with the Grassfire Organization, 13 “moderate” and liberal “Republicans” are going all weak-kneed and pursing their lips to kiss Barack Obama’s ring and that of his liberal Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland.

Can and should the Senate reject Supreme Court Nominee Merrick Garland? In the words and overtone of Vice-President Joe Biden, the Senate can and should refuse this nominee. In a speech on the Senate floor in June 1992, Mr. Biden, then chairman of the Judiciary Committee, said there can and should be a different standard for a Supreme Court vacancy “that would occur in the full throes of an election year.”

No sooner than President Barack Obama had dropped his nominee to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court, D.C. Circuit Chief Judge Merrick Garland, and Senate Republican leaders have declared him dead on arrival.

The current U.S. Supreme Court vacancy could very well be the Senate GOP majority’s defining moment. Will it step up, or back down? Time will tell, but its impact on how the Constitution is interpreted by the next Supreme Court Justice could last for a generation or more.

The Supreme Court is not above the law. The only way their lawlessness abounds is if the people will let them do so. They do not have any authority whatsoever to act outside of the enumerated powers of the Constitution, Period.

So why not leave it up to the American people? Do voters like the balance of the court of the past several years, or would they rather have a more liberal court in the future? 2016 could very well be a referendum on that and other issues. But only if Senate Republicans hold the line.

Scalia understood that the courts do not make laws and have absolutely no law-making power. Yet, through so-called “Judicial Supremacy” the federal courts claim to be the lone and final arbiter of what is constitutional and what is not. So what is the justification for this subversion? They claim the “Supremacy Clause,” found in Article 6, paragraph 2, of the Constitution. But in reading this article we find no mention of the Supreme or any federal court. We do find, however, it is the Constitution itself that has supremacy.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is doing the nation a service by announcing he will work to block President Obama’s appointment to replace Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia and delay until after the election.

I’ve just learned that one of our best U.S. Supreme Court Justices, Antonin Scalia, was found dead of natural causes today. Unless we want irreparable harm to our republic, the Republican Congress should refuse to confirm ANY nominee from Barack Obama for the 11 months remaining in Barack Obama’s term.
