Constitutional Carry Bill Faces Opposition in SD House

The 2012 South Dakota Legislative session started yesterday, and South Dakota Gun Owners has teamed up with pro-gun Representative Don Kopp to introduce HB 1015, the “Constitutional Carry Bill.” The bill mirrors current law in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona and Wyoming, removing the penalty for carrying a concealed handgun without a permit and the 5-day waiting period. But South Dakota Gun Owners says opposition is quickly ramping up in the South Dakota House.

Backed by South Dakota Gun Owners and their 4,000 members and supporters, this Right-to-Carry legislation mirrors current law in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona and Wyoming. The “Constitutional Carry Bill” removes the penalty for carrying a concealed handgun without a permit.
