Big Government Takeover of Education

Big Government Takeover of Education

The federal government has been moving aggressively since Jimmy Carter’s invention of the Department of Education to take over the public education system in America. What was for most of our history a function handled by state and local authorities has been coming more and more under the sway of bureaucrats in Washington D.C. As with pretty much everything you can think of, this process of federalization has been accelerated under the Obama Administration.

Homosexual “Diversity” Knife Cuts Both Ways

Homosexual “Diversity” Knife Cuts Both Ways

What might be ironically humorous if it were not so rotten is that the tables were turned on those who demand fair and unbiased treatment for all sexual deviants, but whose desire for fairness suddenly disappears when they are presented with the demand for equal treatment of those with whom they disagree.  When Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX)  distributed flyers containing information to help students who may be dealing with unwanted same-sex attractions under the same policy that allows pro-homosexual material, this was too much for school district superintendent Joshua Starr.

Educator: Parents Too Stupid to Know What’s Best for Children

Educator: Parents Too Stupid to Know What’s Best for Children

This is the kind of arrogance and elitism the Left has long harbored toward parents and Americans in general: parents are too stupid to know what’s best for their children, and need bureaucrats to make those decisions for them. Liberals used to avoid this kind of frank talk about their views in public, but with the advent of the most Marxist president in American history three years ago, they have grown bold enough to say what they really think more and more in public.

Action Alert: Support South Dakota HCR 1004 to Study Bible in Schools

Contact your Senator and ask him/her to support  HCR 1004. (This is not a bill but a resolution.)  “A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION, Supporting and encouraging the academic study of the Bible in South Dakota public schools.” This is NOT a “Church and State” issue. The laws, government and society of our state and nation are founded on a Biblical worldview, and it is impossible to understand our liberties and their origin without at least academically understanding their Biblical basis.

What will the Legislature do with Governor’s school funding proposal?

What will the Legislature do with Governor’s school funding proposal?

Governor Daugaard’s proposal for extra funding for South Dakota’s public schools is disturbing to some, especially to the teachers in these schools. His idea of terminating tenure is causing a lot of smoke as well. Still, outside the teaching ranks his funding ideas seem to be getting a favorable response from the public. Which side will the Legislature be on?
