Utilizing sympathy for the poor, emotional pleas for the less fortunate, and empathy for people who are not rich, the federal government treacherously steals wealth, property and the ability to pursue happiness from most Americans and instead gives the “morphine” of entitlement to addicted people among their ranks.

Restoring Congress’ Article I power of the purse is exactly what the doctor ordered to fix what ails Washington, D.C. Which is an out-of-control executive branch and its many agencies that have grown far beyond what the Framers of the Constitution intended or ever envisioned in 1787.

The D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, which for 10 years has provided vouchers for low-income minority children in Washington, D.C., to escape from one of the nation’s worst public school systems and attend a private school, was not reauthorized in this latest spending orgy.

Both houses of congress have now had a chance to vote on the $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that funds the Obama Agenda, including open borders, executive amnesty, more H2-B visas for low-skilled foreign workers, an increase in spending, Planned Parenthood, wind farm tax credits, President Obama’s racial zoning quotas, and ObamaCare.

Conservative members of Congress will have to decide whether there is enough in the omnibus to get them to a yes vote, but somehow we doubt for many there is. The political costs of funding the last year of Obama’s agenda may be far too high headed into a volatile election year where primary challenges are the last thing an incumbent member wants to hear about.

Outgoing Speaker John Boehner gave a parting gift to his partner President Obama steaming on the floor of the House with the comment that he wanted to “Clean the barn.” What he did instead was add to the barn litter he is leaving behind.

Default should never be an option for any president, especially when the debt limit is reached. Why would House Republican leaders put their own members in front of such a political buzzsaw? By now, Republicans should know better.

Aren’t you glad that the majority of Americans have a “Republican” representing them in both houses of congress now?  Aren’t you glad “Republicans” are in the majority in congress? I’m so glad of this, because now we don’t have to worry anymore about the relentless assault of liberalism and the out-of-control spending that comes with it.

One can only hope that whoever takes over for House Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) after he retires recognizes these defects, and can begin to move to restore normal order. The framers of the Constitution never envisioned a system where Congress has so little power to set the nation’s fiscal policies.

The national debt has been frozen at about $18.15 trillion for almost six months, according to the U.S. Treasury. Did Congress accidentally balance the budget?
