SOS: Speaking of Seniors: Saved Couple $387.93
In early April of 2015 a senior citizen couple visited my office and brought papers about medical bills that they did not expect to get. The couple is from Merrillville, Indiana.
The medical bills were a surprise because the couple thought that the annual wellness visit under “Obamacare” is free. That was what they went to get – the free annual wellness visit.
But, the medical staff did not file a claim with Medicare for annual wellness visits by the couple. They filed the claims as some other things. The result was the surprise of medical bills that totaled $387.93.
To help these clients, I wrote a letter to the medical service provider advising that its staff had made some mistakes on the claims and asked them to correct the mistakes and refile with Medicare.
Today, May 18, 2015, I received word from our clients that the bills were processed and paid properly. Thus, we saved our clients $387.93.
The help that I gave these clients was FREE OF CHARGE. The owners, agents, and staff of this insurance agency “go the extra mile” to help our senior citizen clients avoid financial harm when someone else makes a mistake in the Medicare system. Does your insurance agency give this high level of service to its senior citizen clients? If not, why not?
