Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., spoke at the RIGHT TO LIFE INDIANAPOLIS annual fundraising banquet at the Indianapolis Convention Center on September 29, 2015.

Before and after the main event, Dr. King was busy autographing copies of her new book entitled KING RULES. The fifth chapter of that book is entitled DEFEND LIFE.

Dr. King explained that her father was the younger brother of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and that the prolife values came from her grandfather Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr. She explained the racist roots of the pro-abortion movement and its history.

In literature and displays outside the dining hall, some of the pro-life organizations distributed literature which cited the fact that today, the biggest cause of death in the African American community is abortion – not drugs or murder.

In her after dinner address, Dr. King warned the audience that soon “end of life” issues would play a more important role in the right to life cause. Recent statistics show that abortion is declining and young people are more “pro-life” than any time since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973.

“Dignity of life and respect for life issues will rise because of an aging population,” she told the crowd.

I totally agree. For years, I have been warning senior citizens that the federal government will change the rules of Medicare to save the federal government money and shift costs of medical care back onto seniors. That is why Medicare refuses to pay for some pre-operation x-rays. That is why there is a “Self-Administered Drugs” problem that is costing senior citizens billions of dollars per year. More changes are coming, too. I know that. Dr. King knows that, and so should you.
