The great pillars of all government and of social life [are] virtue, morality, and religion. This is the armor, my friend, and this alone that renders us invincible. — Patrick Henry, Founder and first governor of Virginia

Obama Tax Hike Mantra Promotes Marxism Not Revenue

While President Barack Obama and his Democrats are pretending to be all hot and heavy to reduce the deficit by confiscating more of American’s money, is that really what he wants to accomplish by forcing successful Americans to pay even more elevated tax rates than they already do?

From the Washington Examiner:

But just how much deficit reduction would Obama’s tax hikes on the rich necessarily accomplish?

Nothing, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Letting tax rates rise to Clinton era levels for those families making over $250,000 a year would only raise $824 billion over ten years. That is not even enough revenue to undo the sequester that Obama promised “will not happen” during his final debate with Mitt Romney.

As Catherine Mary Ham and Bill Whittle have already so aptly illustrated, even if you burn the U.S. Constitution and spread its ashes to the four corners of the wind and confiscate ALL the money held by Obama’s “evil rich” people, you just might manage to close the deficit spending gap…for one year. One single year. By confiscating ALL, 100%, everything that the “evil rich” have earned.

Now, after you have completely wiped out the nation’s wealth producers (and economic activity generators), what will you do to close the deficit spending gap the next year? What then, smart guy?

You’ve killed the goose that laid the golden egg. What are you going to do now?

Deficit and RevenueAnd don’t forget that Obama’s actual tax to stick it to the “evil rich” would only raise a paltry $842 billion over 10 years. In other words, since we are running between $1 TRILLION and $1.5 TRILLION in deficit spending each year, his 10-year revenue gain wouldn’t even close the deficit gap for one year. Put still another way, opting for a most conservative deficit figure of $1 TRILLION per year, Obama’s plan to “stick it to the rich” would meet 8.24% of the revenue needed to balance the budget. Eight point two four.  This leaves 91.76% of the deficit unmet.

It is amazingly, astonishingly clear that we do not have a problem of too little taxation, but a problem of way, way, WAY too much spending.

So why would President Obama and his fellow Democrats push this class warfare “stick it to the rich” plan?  Obviously, since his plan is nothing more than a bad joke when it comes to meeting revenue needs, it clearly has nothing to do with deficit reduction but everything to do with his Marxist philosophy to punish people for their success.

Republicans would be dumber than dumb to betray their party’s values, sell out the American people, and go along with Democrats’ plans to raise taxes when going along with it accomplishes absolutely nothing whatsoever.

Republicans would be infinitely smarter if they would instead seize this opportunity to expose Obama’s empty Marxist class warfare rhetoric for exactly what it is. They would have a fresh opportunity to point out that he is an empty suit with no useful ideas and no real plan to deal with America’s problems. They could use this as an opportunity to educate Americans on the already-unfair tax rates successful Americans are forced to pay, as well as educate Americans on the gargantuan amount of waste being blown by our federal government. If Republicans really wanted to accomplish something meaningful, they could even use this as an opportunity to educate Americans on our founding document and principles, pointing out that about 60% of the federal budget is being spent on things that are unconstitutional-things for which congress has no authority whatsoever to administer and spend.

It is not not a lack of revenue that is our problem. Low taxes are not our problem. Massive illegal government spending, especially in the form of entitlements, that is consuming 60% of our budget is the problem.

Despite the snowstorm of propaganda from the “mainstream” media and other Leftists, Republicans need to shift the debate (as was successfully accomplished in 2010) to deal with the real problem. Republicans need to make Americans aware that we are spending ourselves into oblivion with illegal programs, and that there is no amount of sticking it to our fellow Americans that will save us from the consequences of that.

Limbaugh’s ‘Jesus on Trial:’ The Verdict is in

J. Matt Barber

With his latest book, “Jesus on Trial: A Lawyer Affirms the Truth of the Gospel,” David Limbaugh remains true to form. In fact, having read nearly every manuscript he’s penned, I believe this to be, hands down, David’s best and most important work to date. While managing to make each sentence of each chapter in this page-turner fascinating, Limbaugh also provides proof beyond any reasonable doubt that Jesus Christ, in both His historical and spiritual respects, was, and is, exactly who He said He is: God incarnate, the living, physically resurrected Savior of the world and the only, yes, that means the exclusive, path to God the Father.

Republicans shouldn’t pander to Hispanic voters

Star Parker

The immigration issue is now a political football because of the political baggage it carries. Both parties want the votes of the Hispanic population, the most rapidly growing demographic in the country. And this is the same population most sensitive to the immigration issue because most of the illegals within our borders are from Latin American countries.

SOS: Speaking of Seniors - Government and Turtles

Woodrow Wilcox

What do the federal government and turtles have in common? Speed! One of our senior citizen clients got married in October 2013. After her honeymoon, she did the responsible thing and asked the Social Security Administration to change the name on her social security card to her new, married name. A few weeks later, she got a new card with her married name. But, Medicare never sent her a new Medicare ID card with her new last name.

The Perfect Plan

A.J. Castellitto

159 House Republicans (including my district rep) and 33 Senate Republicans voted for arming Syrian rebels against the will of their constituents. In the meantime, our borders are a mess and our own government has been enabling (or simply ignoring) a multitude of illegal entries via land and air. Not only are we arming those who hate us (and will eventually come for us) but we are ignoring (and/or supporting) those who are planning and plotting something against us on our own soil.

EB-5 Program a Ted Kennedy Brainchild

Bob Ellis

The EB-5 "cash-for-visas" program has generated a lot of controversy and discussion in South Dakota over the past couple of years. Did you know the EB-5 program that some "Republicans" have embraced was created by a Democrat Ted Kennedy bill?

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all." - Ronald Reagan, Nov. 10, 1964
