The video explains the difference in passenger car mileage between European countries and the US. I had heard from friends that travel regularly in Europe that European cars typically get higher mileage than comparable US automobiles, but I had no idea how much or why. I figured it probably had to do with government regulations and air quality demands. It’s much worse than that.
The Rapid City Journal reports on an appearance by the South Dakota Dist. 35 House Republican candidates at the Wingnuts luncheon yesterday. Present at yesterday's luncheon were incumbent Don Kopp, Chip Campbell, and Jack Siebold--all running for Dist. 35 House on the GOP ticket. There were some very important differences between Mr. Siebold and his two Republican competitors on some important issues.
Here we go again. Speaking to the Peter G. Peterson Foundation 2012 Fiscal Summit on May 15 , House Speaker John Boehner once again called for offsetting spending cuts in return for increasing the $16.394 trillion debt ceiling later this year. This follows the failed attempt in 2011 to do precisely the same thing.
The "mainstream" media is all aghast at a childhood bullying incident of MItt Romney's, but the real bullies in America exist primarily in government and primarily on the left. One could fill volumes recounting liberal Democrats kicking sand at the little people to gain and maintain power. Government, just by its nature, resembles a schoolyard bully, exerting its power through judicial fiat, often nullifying the will of the people, and then there are unelected bureaucrats, regulators and executive orders — some compatible with liberty, many not.
There is a lot a state like California could do with $3.5 million a day. At the top of the list should be telling the federal government no to an expensive and unnecessary train and instead getting its fiscal house in order. You would think Californians would want off this train before it’s even built and further derails its economy.
