Government is instituted to protect property of every sort; as well that which lies in the various rights of individuals, as that which the term particularly expresses. This being the end of government, that alone is a just government, which impartially secures to every man, whatever is his own. — James Madison, On Property, 1792

How Do We Value Labor?

September 3, 2012   ·   By   ·   0 Comments

workThe VALUE placed upon LABOR is an element in a society because it reflects the social structure as well as the scale of social values. One’ society, even globally, is in a state of change making for difficulties. Thus it is needful to maintain a good attitude toward work and toil which affects not only society but one’s own soul.

It is Almighty God’s MERCY and GRACE which sets the right conditions - “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return (Gen 3:19)” – lest IDLENESS should be the ruin of one’s soul and body. IDLENESS was not made for man, nor was man for IDLENESS.

The desire of the slothful (lazy man) killeth him; for his hands REFUSE to LABOR (Prov. 21:25).
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies (2 Thes 3:10-11).

Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee (Psalms 128:1-2).

The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep (Eccl 5:12).

The right attitude and action to do your best is very commendable. But our best cannot make possible THE BEST which is necessary.

Consider Almighty God’s Work

Salvation, even eternal life, is not earned by the good works and diligent labors of men: NOT BY WORKS of righteousness which we have done, but according to HIS MERCY He saved us (Titus 3:5).

I have glorified thee (Almighty God the Father)on the earth: I have FINISHED THE WORK which thou gavest me to do (John 17:4).

A person cannot work his way to heaven. The Lord Jesus Christ made possible your SALVATION once and for all on the cross, and when he had finished paying the full debt of your sins and mine He cried out, “IT IS FINISHED!” (John 19:30).

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast (Eph 2:8-9).

But to him that WORKETH NOT, but BELIEVETH on HIM that justifieth the ungodly, HIS FAITH is counted for righteousness (Romans 4:5).

Salvation is not based on what I might do; it is based on what Jesus Christ has ALREADY DONE! Salvation is not earned by WORKING; but it is gained by RECEIVING and RESTING on the work of Another! Resting, relying on the Work of Jesus Christ makes for an eternal safety and a good out working in the believer’s life.

But as many as RECIEVED him, to them gave he power to become the sons (children) of God, even to them that BELIEVE on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (John 1:12-13).

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God (1 John 5:12-13).

Are you resting your soul on the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ and His saving work? Are you relying on His sure Word? May it be your sole desire to know the Savior of the world, the Lord Jesus Christ! You will never be the same my friend. NEVER!

The Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand!

FDR’s Second Bill of Rights

Michael Peroutka

Back in January, 1944, just four years before Walt Kelly's Pogo first appeared, President Franklin Roosevelt, in his annual address to Congress, set the nation on a path that would destroy America as the founders envisioned it. The plan he declared to the nation in that speech was destined, if not designed, to make America its own enemy.

John W. Whitehead

The perils of resisting the police state grow more costly with each passing day, especially if you hope to escape with your life and property intact. The thing you must remember is that we’ve entered an age of militarized police in which we’re no longer viewed as civilians but as enemy combatants.

Yesterday's action by the Supreme Court only solidifies the idea that the powerful elites who dominate politics, media and culture do not care what the people think, expressed through the ballot box or their elected state legislators. And if "We the People's" votes do not count, then We live not in freedom but under tyranny.

Study: Another Nail in the ‘Safe’ Marijuana Coffin

Bob Ellis

The evidence just continues to mount that marijuana is not the wonderful, benevolent plant that potheads claim it is. Not that there has been a dearth of that information in the past, since for years I have remarked on factual data about its dangers, including traffic deaths, mental health issues, psychosis, schizophrenia, other psychotic symptoms and other health dangers. Then, of course, there are the wonderful things pot use does for productivity and responsible use of the taxpayer's dollars.

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all." - Ronald Reagan, Nov. 10, 1964
