Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?’ Expediency asks the question, ‘Is it politic?’ But conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’ And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right. — Martin Luther King Jr.

South Dakota Senate Cmte Supports Health Care for Pregnant Illegal Aliens

Bob Ellis

A few weeks ago, the South Dakota House voted to support taxpayer funded government health care for pregnant illegal aliens, and today the South Dakota Senate Health and Human Services Committee supported it. The bill was heard in the Senate Health and Human Services Committee today and passed by a 4-3 vote in a Republican majority.

SD House Cmte Votes for Health Care for Pregnant Illegal Aliens

Bob Ellis

A committee in the "Republican" supermajority South Dakota House has, for the second year in a row, voted to extend taxpayer-funded health care to pregnant illegal aliens. The bill was deliberately framed as having nothing to do with illegal immigration, but rather framed as a "pro life" and "fiscally conservative" bill.

Republican Governor Tries to Hide Funding for Illegal Aliens

Bob Ellis

Earlier last month, the South Dakota House voted to extend taxpayer funded government health care benefits to pregnant illegal aliens. Last year, the legislature tried to do the same thing, but it got tangled up in a conference committee. The Democrat sponsor of the bill, Rep. Bernie Hunhoff, and Gov. Dennis Daugaard agreed to fund it through Medicaid appropriations. Looks like the governor is ready to pull the same fast one again.

Why Should We Believe the Latest GOP Initiative?

Bob Ellis

There's been a lot of hype in Republican circles lately over RCN Chairman Reince Priebus' recent speech and this statement. I've seen the hype nationally, and I've received healthy doses of it in my inbox from local Republican sources. Trying to have an open mind, I read the document and listened to Priebus' speech to see what I thought.

Report: Liberals Created Illegal Immigration Influx…and Americans Know It

Bob Ellis

As is too often the case these days, if you want to learn anything about what is really going on in the United States, you have to look to sources other than the "mainstream" media in America. In addition to having to look to "new media" source, sometimes it takes a look outside the United States altogether.

Illegal Alien Children Surge Linking Up with Illegals Already Here

Bob Ellis

The current influx of illegal alien children are hooking up with illegal aliens already in the United States--often doing so with the aid and assistance of the taxpayer-funded federal government.

Poll: Deport Illegals, Send Bill to Mexico

Bob Ellis

As the Daily Caller reports, most Americans believe the illegal aliens pouring across our border from Mexico should be deported and the bill sent to the countries of ultimate origin.

Republican Hypocrisy Alert: Ohio

Bob Ellis

Jason Hart at RedState points us to more "Republican" hypocrisy, this time as Ohio Governor John Kasich (a man I once admired) tries to tell us that the ObamaCare (an unconstitutional government health care program) expansion of the unconstitutional government health care program known as Medicaid is somehow "conservative."

Mar. 5 South Dakota Legislative Billwatch

Bob Ellis

It's another big day ahead of the South Dakota Legislature today. The Senate Health and Human Services committee will again look at sex-selective abortions, Senate Appropriations will look at providing taxpayer-funded government health care to pregnant illegal aliens, EPA regulations will be considered, a vote of opposition to ObamaCare will be looked at, as well as several other bills.

A New One from Liberals: Prohibiting Sex Selective Abortion is Racist

Bob Ellis

A bill on sex-selective abortions was heard in the South Dakota Senate Human Services Committee on Monday and ended with a deadlocked vote. Pro-abortion liberals had a fresh spin this time in their effort to obfuscate and maintain access to abortion on demand: the bill to ban sex-selective abortions is "racist" and "discriminatory."

On Course to Never Pay Off National Debt

Robert Romano

We’re more likely to default on our national debt than to ever pay it off. The national debt has increased every single year since 1958 to its current level. Who really believes that trend will be reversed?

Pastors Resist Houston Mayor’s Power Grab

Guest Author

Houston is home to one of NASA's most sophisticated space centers -- but even it would have trouble finding signs of intelligence in the local Mayor's office. The city's highest official is blowing past the First Amendment at warp speed -- and lighting a political powder keg in the process.

Supreme Court

No To Graven Images

David Whitney

This past Monday the Supreme Court, in typical fashion, issued its decree for the destruction of God's Holy Institution of marriage in America. By refusing a writ of certiorari, it condemned five more States immediately, and potentially all the remaining States in the union, to have sodomite un-marriage forced upon them. What is very significant in this is that this would be against the plain statements of those State Constitutions as well as State law, not to mention six thousand years of human history.

Tea Party Express Whores Itself to RINO Establishment

Bob Ellis

We've come to a very sad and pathetic place in America and South Dakota, these days. There once was a time, not too long ago, when you could count on certain people and groups to do the right thing and hold the line against what was wrong. Not anymore.

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all." - Ronald Reagan, Nov. 10, 1964
