Homosexual Activists Driving Store Out of Business

closedFrom the Annapolis Patch via NOM:

“The law exempts my minister from doing same-sex weddings, and the Knights of Columbus don’t have to rent out their hall for a gay wedding reception, but somehow my religious convictions don’t count for anything,” Discover Annapolis Tours owner Matt Grubbs wrote in an email.

The email was provided to Patch by Chris Belkot on Nov. 29. He received it from Grubbs after Belkot inquired about using the company’s wedding services this spring.

Grubbs confirmed the email, and said his attorney advised him to shut down the wedding part of his business immediately because he could be sued for refusing services to same-sex couples.

“We’re a Christian-owned company, and we just can’t support gay marriages,” Grubbs said. “We’re not trying to make a statement. We’re not trying to make a point. We’re just trying to be faithful Christians.”

The decision will cost him approximately $50,000 a year in revenue.

The simple fact is that homosexual activists and their sycophants in government don’t care at all about religious freedom or any silly “religious exceptions.” It’s about pursuing their vain and fruitless quest to feel legitimate about engaging in a behavior that will never and can never be legitimate. They cannot feel legitimate if people are allowed to publicly disapprove of their immoral behavior, so they use the force of government to make their enemies comply…or be punished.

As shocking and despicable as this is–especially in a country founded by Christians on Christian principles–it is not a surprise. Oh no.

No, we have know for years now that homosexual activists and their useful idiots in government have declared war on Christians who have the audacity to believe God when he says that homosexual behavior is unnatural and immoral. Here is a list I put together more than a year ago (and it could probably be doubled by now, if I took the time to recompile it):

  • Last year we heard about the Catholic priest in Canada, Fr. Alphonse de Valk, who was investigated by the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) for the “crime” of teaching what the Bible says about homosexual behavior (that it is a sin) and marriage (that it is between a man and a woman).
  • In 2005 the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal slammed a Knights of Columbus group for $1000 because they refused to rent a hall to a couple of lesbians for a “marriage” ceremony; apparently they have no freedom over their own property.
  • Previously, the Ontario Human Rights Commission slapped Protestant printer Scott Brockie with a $5000 fine for refusing to print homosexual-themed stationary.
  • The Saskatchewan Human Rights Tribunal fined Hugh Owens several thousand dollars for quoting the Bible in a letter to the local newspaper.
  • Mayor Diane Haskett in London, Ontario, was fined $10,000 for refusing to proclaim a gay pride day.
  • Swedish Pastor Ake Green in 2004 was sentenced to 30 days in jail for preaching a sermon in which he defined homosexual behavior as sinful and harmful to society.
  • Afraid of being branded “homophobic,” child care workers in England placed several foster children with two homosexual men…and ignored reports that they were being molested.
  • A British couple were questioned by police on possible “hate crime” charges after they wrote a letter-to-the-editor of their local newspaper criticizing city officials for distributing brochures at city hall promoting homosexual behavior.
  • A Christian couple who have taken in 28 children have been forced to give up being foster parents after they refused to promote homosexuality. Vincent Matherick, 65, and his 61-year-old wife Pauline were told by social services that they had to comply with legislation requiring them to treat homosexuality as equal to heterosexuality.
  • A British Anglican bishop in February 2008 was fined for refusing to hire an openly homosexual man as a church youth minister.
  • In Scotland in 2006, nine firemen were punished for refusing to work at a booth and hand out pro-homosexual leaflets at a “gay pride” parade.
  • Catholic charities in England have been forced out of the adoption ministry, rather than being forced to adopt children to homosexuals.
  • In Canada, Focus on the Family must cut out any portions of their broadcasts dealing with homosexuality for radio stations in that country.
  • Last year the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal ruled that youth pastor Stephen Boissoin was guilty of writing a letter to the editor of the Red Deer Advocate which might expose homosexuals to hate and contempt (Boissoin’s 2002 letter said homosexuality was immoral, physically dangerous and should not be promoted in schools).
  • Not content with their success in quashing open refusals to bow at the altar of political correctness, the Canadian pro-homosexual group EGALE (Equality for Gays and Lesbians Everywhere) is calling for the Canadian postal system to censor the mail for “hate mail”
  • Catholic Charities in Boston was forced out of the adoption ministry because they refused to put children in homes of homosexual couples.
  • Boston school teachers have been threatened with termination if they fail to cast homosexuality in a positive light to students.
  • The University of Toledo fired a black administrator for writing a “letter to the editor” of a local newspaper about the inconsistency of comparing homosexuality to ethnicity.
  • Christians in Philadelphia were arrested for reading Bible verses and praying out loud during a homosexual festival.
  • The state of New Mexico issued a fine of $6,600 to a Christian photographer (a private businessman) who didn’t want to photograph two lesbians make a commitment to each other.
  • Philadelphia has also decided to stick it to the Boy Scouts (who don’t allow homosexuals in leadership positions of their loyal-to-God organization), charging them $200,000 a year rent to use facilities that other charities use for free.
  • In an incident similar to the one in Scotland, firefighters in San Diego were forced by the city in 2007 to attend a “gay pride” parade.
  • Such “anti-discrimination” legislation has been used in Maryland to push for access for men who “feel like a woman” to women’s restrooms and shower rooms.
  • Gainsville, Florida has also moved for a “restroom chaos” bill
  • The University of Pittsburgh has also gone for men in the women’s restroom
  • Last year, the entire state of Colorado went co-ed restrooms
  • The Colorado law also contained provisions which prohibits the publication for public consumption any material which is “discriminatory” against homosexual behavior. So while churches can (for now) continue teaching within their own walls what the Bible says about homosexual behavior, they cannot publish anything in public which does. This includes any Christian book publishers or other ministries in Colorado.

As I have pointed out many times, two opposing value systems cannot peacefully coexist in the same society. One will naturally dominate while the other will naturally be marginalized.

Since colonial times, America has been established on Christian principles by the Christian founders of our nation. Those principles made us the greatest, most free and most prosperous nation in all of history. That continued over most of our history until the past 50 years or so  when people began to capitulate to rabid atheists and secularists who seek to sanitize the public square of any expression of our nation’s Christian faith.

Having now successfully marginalized our Christian heritage and made the Christian belief system irrelevant to the “real world” in many people’s minds, the stage has now been set to institute a new value system: that of Godless humanism, which sees people as the outcome of random chance, as only highly developed animals, as only subjects of the state, where there is no right and wrong but only “convenient” and “inconvenient.” Every time these values have been imposed anywhere in the world (the Soviet Union, communist China, Cuba, North Korea, or any of a number of failed Marxist countries), misery, injustice, suffering and death has followed.

Our nation desperately needs to wake up, start speaking up for what is right (even if liberals don’t like it) before religious freedom is a thing of the past, and our nation slides below the waves of morally polluted waters.

Ryan Sorba, in his excellent exposè on the first assault by sexual anarchists on the first line of defense, psychiatry, reveals the ultimate goals of this barbarian movement by quoting Barbara Gittings, an early homosexual activist and first head of the American Library Association’s “Gay Task Force:”

“Psychiatrists were one of the three major groups that had their hands on us. They had a kind of control over our fate, in the eyes of the public, for a long time. Religion [emphasis added] and law were the other two groups that had their hands on us. So, besides being sick, we were sinful and criminal.”

Their first attack was against the scientific/medical aspect, and through incessant, intimidating, and sometimes violent, but always shockingly obscene, harassment in conventions and meetings of the psychiatric profession, were able to bully or deceive enough leading professionals to incrementally delegitimize the pathological classification of homosexual behavior. Continued Gittings, “…the sickness label infected everything that we said and made it difficult for us to gain any credibility for anything we said ourselves. The sickness issue was paramount.” And so, first line of defense fell to the sodomite lobby. And Gittings openly admitted it was by political pressure, not scientific discover, that this change happened:

“It was never a medical decision—and that’s why I think the action came
so fast…It was a political move…That’s how far we’ve come in ten years.
Now we even have the American Psychiatric Association running scared.”

Now, much of the legal aspects are in the bag as well, so the last bastion of moral sanity must be attacked. I’m afraid this will happen more and more frequently, even up to demanding that pastors be forced to perform sames sex “marriages” or be penalized with loss of tax exemption or denied licensure to solemnize any weddings.
