Last week, HB 1228 was considered in the South Dakota House. The purpose of the bill was to “repeal the prohibition against carrying permitted concealed weapons in the state capitol.” The arguments for and against became pretty interesting, especially when the prime intent of the bill was “hijacked.”

The question is what Congress or the courts might do about it. Perhaps the reason Obama has been so “brazen and open” about violating the separation of powers is because he knows the answer that question is nothing. Until the other branches jealously guard their rightful powers under the Constitution, we might as well not have one.

It is looking more and more as if the Democratic candidate for President in 2016 will, indeed, be Hillary Clinton. Surprise, surprise! A Hillary Clinton administration, I believe, would be a carry-over of the Obama administration — except that Hillary would, in my opinion, demonstrate more determination, more boldness, more gumption, more backbone, more moxie … in other words — more guts. Only problem is — Hillary’s a Marxist!

While well-intentioned, all existing versions of a balanced budget amendment take the focus off the Article 1 Section 8 constitutional spending of the federal government and assume the federal government can spend taxpayer money on whatever it wants so long as the budget is balanced. This guts the protections the founders built into the U.S. Constitution.

If the president truly believed that raising the minimum wage would actually bring more compensation to the needy, why not raise the minimum wage to $20, $50, or even $100 per hour? If a little bit of extra value is good, isn’t a lot better? Why stop at a mere $10.10?

In perhaps the most telling evidence for impeachment so far, the Speaker of the House has declared that it is meaningless to pass legislation when based upon President Obama’s past practices there is no guarantee that the President will enforce the law. This is a stunning admission. The President is sworn to uphold the Constitution. In the Constitution, as the chief executive, the President is supposed to enforce and execute the laws. Having reached the point where the Speaker of the House can no longer trust that the President will enforce laws, we have reached the place where this is no longer a nation of laws it is a nation of men.
