Americans for Limited Government President Nathan Mehrens today issued a statement in response to the Senate voting down a continuing resolution that would fund the government and delay the individual mandate under Obamacare.

The Jackson, MS election is quite remarkable, because the people of Jackson, apparently aiming to become a junior Detroit of the South, have chosen as their mayor a radical black supremacist Democrat, Chokwe Lumumba. The 66-year-old Lumumba was born Edwin Taliaferro in Detroit but later changed his name.

On September 27, 2013, I helped a client from Crown Point, Indiana. The result is that our client had a bill for $340.85 for self-administered drugs. Medicare will not pay for self-administered drugs taken in a hospital. Her insurance policy will not pay for this medicine either because Medicare rules excluded it from coverage from the supplement insurance company.

On September 25, Guido Barilla, the president of the large pasta company that bears his family’s name, was interviewed on an Italian radio program. He was asked why his company didn’t portray any “gay” families in its advertising. His answer brought the predictable wrath of homosexual activists.

Propaganda attempts to influence public opinion. Propaganda uses a bandwagon technique to encourage people to join the most popular side of an issue. Few people are willing to criticize narratives that purport to have altruistic intentions. Requiring employers to deliver government propaganda is genius.

How can America continue to exist politically as a republic with a constitutionally limited government dedicated to personal liberty, economic freedom and individual opportunity if our central government destroys competition?

With his inspirational and unprecedented show of leadership on the floor of the U.S. Senate this past week, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, made hundreds of enemies in Washington. But more importantly, he made millions of friends across America.

Earlier today, the United States Senate voted to fund Obamacare. There were 25 Republicans who betrayed their principles and voted for cloture, giving Democrats the power to implement this terrible law. This is a disappointing loss, but the bill now goes back to the House where Republicans must hold their ground and refuse to fund Obamacare.

Among the pearls of wisdom conveyed in Ecclesiastes is that everything has its time. America must stand by Senator Cruz and other brave tea party Republicans who understand the message of Ecclesiastes: that there is a time for everything, and that today is the time for confrontation.

“It is extremely disappointing that a number of Senate Republicans led by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Whip John Cornyn joined Harry Reid in allowing Obamacare to be funded. The absurdity of these Republicans complaining about a procedural tactic when the lives and health of millions of Americans are at stake is inexplicable.
