Reverting back to my simple minded thinking, remember back to when it was called “Election Day” instead of “election week” or “election time of the year?” In earlier and more orderly times, devoid of all this acrimony and ballot recountings, polls opened at seven in the morning and closed at seven or eight at night. That was it! Now, with fear of being charged with discrimination or having actions or rules labeled discriminatory, holding a single day election would be immediately earmarked for a Supreme Court redefining.

Rick Perry may be on to something. In a June ad campaign that ran in New York, California, and Illinois, the Texas governor makes the case for businesses to check out Texas as a landing spot to escape the high taxes, regulations, and generally inflated cost of doing business of these blue states.
