Religion is the only solid base of morals and that morals are the only possible support of free governments. Therefore education should teach the precepts of religion and the duties of man toward God. — Gouverneur Morris, signer of the Constitution

CBO: ObamaCare Cost Nearly Double the Initial Projection

March 14, 2012   ·   By   ·   0 Comments

The arrow points to the size of a man

The Washington Examiner reports the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has, um, revised their estimate of how much the unconstitutional Affordable Care Act (aka ObamaCare) is going to gouge the American people if the U.S. Supreme Court doesn’t do the right thing and strike it down for the affront to liberty it is.

You may recall that President Barack Obama and the other Leftists in congress told us it would cost less than a trillion dollars.  Most of us knew that was complete bunk even then, but now the CBO admits it’s more like $1.76 TRILLION over 10 years (and I’d be willing to wager a significant percentage of that $1.76 trillion that this estimate is lowballed, too.

Interestingly, as Allahpundit at Hot Air reminds us, the only way they could reach their original under-a-trillion figure was to “engineer” a 10-year “cost” with only six years of providing benefits.

Trampling the U.S. Constitution…providing abortion despite claims it wouldn’t…trashing religious freedom…defining deviancy down…and costing us nearly twice the original estimate to do for Americans what Americans should and can do much better for themselves.

This tyrant and all his Leftist cronies need to be thrown out of Washington with all possible haste.

Farm Bill Provides Republican Opportunity

Robert Romano

On June 20, the $939 billion so-called “farm” bill — it should really be called the food stamp bill with 80 percent of it is dedicated to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — went down in flames in the House of Representatives, failing by a vote of 195 to 234. The reason? 62 House Republicans found the cuts to food stamps, amounting to just $2 billion a year for an $80 billion a year program, to be simply too small.

The Illusion of Freedom in the Land of the Blind

John W. Whitehead

We are living in a fantasy world carefully crafted to resemble a representative democracy, while in reality we are little more than slaves in thrall to an authoritarian regime, with its constant surveillance, manufactured media spectacles, secret courts, inverted justice, and violent repression of dissent. And for the few who dare to challenge the status quo such as Edward Snowden, they are assured of being branded either as conspiratorialists, alarmists, lunatics or outright traitors.

Protective Tariffs: The Primary Cause of the Civil War

David John Marotta

The South did not secede primarily because of slavery. In Lincoln's First Inaugural Address he promised he had no intention to change slavery in the South. He argued it would be unconstitutional for him to do so. But he promised he would invade any state that failed to collect tariffs in order to enforce them. It was received from Baltimore to Charleston as a declaration of war on the South.

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all." - Ronald Reagan, Nov. 10, 1964
