Rebellion Against God is Cosmic Suicide

“And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.” -Acts 9:5

Rebellion against God is spiritual treason. It’s waving our fist at the approaching hurricane.

We must get over ourselves. Our self adoring platforms must give way to faithful pulpits.

Resistance is futile. Our options are submission or a miserable and perpetual annihilation. The righteous judgements of God are dismissed at our own peril.

“Sin is cosmic treason. Sin is treason against a perfectly pure Sovereign. It is an act of supreme ingratitude toward the One to whom we owe everything, to the One who has given us life itself….We are saying, ‘God, Your law is not good. My judgement is better than Yours. Your authority does not apply to me. I am above and beyond Your jurisdiction. I have the right to do what I want to do, not what You command me to do.’” – R.C. Sproul, The Holiness of God

We Christians need to double down.

We’ve been brought to our knees. Some days we are mere beggars crawling to the finish line. Yet, we have a duty to check our sugarcoating at the door. All paradoxes of the faith considered, we must go down loving and fighting.

The prize is at hand. We need to keep our eyes fixed on the King throughout all of our affairs. Our faithful witness is our most prized possession for it’s merely a reflection of the Light that ultimately heals and consumes us a little more each day.

The hardened hater doesn’t resent our faith due to a lack of intellectual veracity. He hates our faith because he wants to. That is the part of each one of us that needs to be crushed if we are ever to make it out of this place alive.

“Atheism is not the result of objective assessment of evidence, but of stubborn disobedience; it does not arise from the careful application of reason but from willful rebellion. Atheism is the suppression of truth by wickedness, the cognitive consequence of immorality….In short, it is sin that is the mother or unbelief.” – James S Spiegel

Our journey is supernatural, not carnal. All character and moral virtue is ultimately born out of a spiritually enlightened worldview. I don’t know about anyone else, but thanks to the grace of God I’m more steadfast than ever regarding what I believe and what it means to be a believer. My foundation can never fail because it lies outside myself, and it is Absolute Perfection!

  • Wow, this place is frightening.

Yeah, reality can be a hard pill….

What’s frightening about God’s grace? Seek it.

Before grace can be sought, the sinner has to be made to face the horror of his sin. This is the part of the Gospel that modern day Christians consistently leave out.

        As Keith Green once said:

Unless people are truly convicted of sin, if they do not fully see that they are totally condemned by the requirements of God’s Law, then it is virtually impossible to show them the need for a savior. Why, what would they need to be saved from? Fun?

This can take much time and much prayer. Instant, insurance-policy salvation is a false counterfeit.

Well said. An “instant ” acceptance of faith imo is pretty rare, but God only knows a man’s soul.
