SOS: Speaking of Seniors - Cancel This Bill Too!

On December 6, 2016, I typed and sent a letter to a medical service provider for a senior citizen client from East Chicago, Indiana.

The letter asked the chief executive officer and doctor of a medical service provider to cancel a bill that the firm had sent to our client. Here is the part of the letter that I can show you.

Earlier this year, you and I worked together to correct serious errors by the medical billing firm that your firm used. Specifically, clients of this insurance agency and I initiated complaints against your firm and your billing firm with the Indiana Attorney General.

You were very cooperative to correct errors and treat our clients fairly.

Another file with errors from the past has come to light. Your billing firm is seeking a balance of $88.14 for services rendered on 03/04/2013. That is over three years ago and within the time period of problems that our other clients experienced with unfair and untruthful billing from the billing service that you used. Recall that the billing service was not crediting payments from insurance companies to the clients’ accounts. Our clients were being billed for money that was already paid by their Medicare supplement insurance policies.

Please, cancel this bill for the same reasons that were present in those other cases. Thank you.

The help that I gave our client from East Chicago was FREE OF CHARGE. This insurance agency distinguishes itself from others by “going the extra mile” for our clients. Does your insurance agent or agency give this high level of service to senior citizen clients? If not, why not?
