SOS: Speaking of Seniors - Fighting for Our Client

letterOn October 5, 2016, I wrote a letter to a hospital about a bill for a client from Schererville, Indiana. With some editing to protect the privacy of our client, here is my letter to the hospital.

Your firm has been billing our client for a balance of $9,016, but his Medicare supplement insurance company claims that your firm is not reading the Medicare forms and Medicare rules correctly. It claims that your firm is required to “write off” this balance.

What is a sick senior citizen to do in such a matter? Why should the sick senior citizen be badgered by a fight over interpretation of Medicare rules?

I phoned the client’s insurance company today and it requested that we ask you to contact it to discuss this matter. I don’t know which of your firms is incorrect in this matter and I don’t care. I just want our client not to worry about this bill. If Medicare approved the claim and figured a balance of $9,016, why is it not being paid or “written off”? Here is how to contact his insurance company.
