SOS: Speaking of Seniors - Client Getting $1,100 Refund
On September 29, 2016, I sent documents to an insurance company which will result in our client getting a refund of $1,100. Here is the story.
A few weeks ago, Moe Qader, a new agent with our insurance agency, visited one of our clients for a review update. During the visit, the client told him that the client had paid a hospital bill of $1,100 to avoid a collection action by the hospital. The client is from Portage, Indiana.
Moe Qader reviewed the bill with the client and told him that Woodrow Wilcox probably could help him get the money back. The client visited me and brought the bill papers. It took some time to get other papers to complete the file to send to the insurance company, but I was able to help the client to get a refund of the $1,100 that the client had paid to the hospital.
The cause of the bill was that Medicare never sent the claim to our client’s Medicare supplement insurance company. The problem was not caused by the client, by his insurance company, by our agency, or by the hospital. The problem was caused by the Medicare system breaking down and failing this senior citizen. The Medicare system has these glitches hundreds of times per day. If no one helps the senior to catch and fix the problem, the senior pays a bill that Medicare bungled.
The help that I gave this client was FREE OF CHARGE. This insurance agency helps our senior citizen clients with such problems at no charge to demonstrate that we really do care about our senior citizen clients. Does your insurance agency give this high level of service to senior citizen clients? If not, why not?
