God Gets the Glory in Creation

When mainstream scientists consider the origin of the universe, they try to figure out how natural forces and natural laws brought the universe about. This is one reason they start with the Big Bang theory, for it provides that kind of explanation.
There is a problem with that kind of explanation though. The problem is, God did not create the heavens and the earth by using natural forces and natural laws. Instead, God used His eternal power, power which belongs exclusively to Him, power which is not dependent upon natural forces and natural laws.
How do I know this? Because the Scriptures tell us God created the heavens and the earth by Himself. Isaiah 44:24 speaks to this when it says: “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, and He who formed you from the womb: I am the LORD, who makes all things, who stretches out the heavens all alone, who spreads abroad the earth by Myself.” Jeremiah 32:17 also testifies to this when it says, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.” This power is identified in Romans 1:20 as His eternal power. Therefore it is power which existed before creation.
A good example of God not using natural forces and natural laws can be seen in how the Bible explains the beginning. On the first day, God created the vast heavens as a place to put heavenly bodies. But on that first day, the only thing He put in the heavens was the earth. He created the earth not as a molten, volatile planet but as a cool, water-covered planet.
Why did God began creation that way? He began creation that way so that the only explanation for how it happened would be Him. For only God could have done it that way. Therefore He gets the glory.
There is a reason for this. In Isaiah 48:11d, the Lord says, “I will not give My glory to another.” Notice that. “I will not give My glory to another.” In other words, there are situations in which God is not going to allow people to say something else brought certain things to pass.
We can see this when we notice in the Bible that the sun, the moon, and stars were not created until Day Four. As we look at the heavens on Day One and only see the earth, the existence of only the earth defies any natural explanation. According to evolutionary time line, the stars would have to have been formed first. But such is not the case. God created the earth in a way that the only explanation is Him. Therefore, He gets the glory.
The same is true with regard to stars in the heavens. This is why in Psalm 19 it says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.” It says this because when we look at the heavens, the only explanation is, “God did it. The Big Bang did not do it. God did.”
I say this because as one looks at the heavens, there are reasons why what we see cannot be explained by the Big Bang. For instance, had the Big Bang produced them, the explosion of the Big Bang would have produced a much more even distribution of stars and other bodies. As we looked at the heavens, what we would see would be everything being spaced quite evenly. But that is not what we see. Instead, we see great galaxies interspersed with great voids. The universe then has a lumpy appearance. With that being the case, the heavens do not look like the result of a great explosion but the result of a great plan that was carried out by a great Designer.
Mainstream scientists, however, do not see the result of a great plan carried out by a great Designer. The reason they do not see it is because to them there was no Designer and there was no supernatural power, so they start from the assumption that supernatural power does not exist. All that exists are natural forces and natural laws. Therefore, their understanding is limited by imperfect assumptions.
This faulty reasoning reminds me of the following story which appeared in a Boston newspaper in 1872:
A man about forty-six years of age, giving the name of Joshua Coppersmith, has been arrested in New York for allegedly attempting to extort funds from ignorant and superstitious people. He exhibited a device which he says will convey the human voice any distance over metallic wires so that it will be heard by the listener at the other end of the wire.
He calls the instrument a telephone, which is obviously intended to imitate the word “telegraph,” thus winning the confidence of those who know the success of the latter instrument (the telegraph), without understanding the principles on which it is based.
The same kind of faulty reasoning takes place when scientists refuse to believe that God can work in ways that do not involve natural cause and effect, natural laws, and natural forces. The truth of the matter is God can work through His eternal power, as He did when Jesus turned water into wine, and when He healed the man born blind. The reason God can do this is because, as the prophet Jeremiah says, in speaking to God, “There is nothing is too hard for You.”
What we see when we look at creation are many examples of the failure of the theory of evolution to explain how the universe and life on the earth came into being. The fact that the earth was created before the sun, moon, and stars is one. The fact that the stars are not equally distributed is another.
A third fact which shows the failure of the theory of evolution is the Cambrian explosion. In the Cambrian explosion, which was the first appearance of life on the earth, there is no testimony to a common ancestor and there are no transitional fossils. Instead, what we see is the appearance of a great many forms of life, all appearing in a mature state and not differing from the way those creatures appear today.
How is this possible? What godless natural cause and effect series of events can be used to explain this? None. The only explanation is a very wise God with a plan who knew what He wanted to create and created those creatures fully formed at a moment in time because He had the power to do it.
“But that is not possible. It could not have happened that way,” says the evolutionary scientist who thinks within the box of natural cause and effect. But in saying this, they fail to understand there is a great God of unlimited supernatural power, unlimited wisdom and understanding, a God with a great plan who knew what He was doing. He did it all according to His timeline, a timeline which did not need billions of years.
His goal was to create humans who would come to know Him, and created the world for those humans to live. For that we are thankful and we give Him all the praise and the glory.
