SOS: Speaking of Seniors - Medicare Failed to Send Her Claim

envelope_mailOn September 7, 2016, the husband of one of our client’s phoned me to report that a local hospital phoned them and threatened to send the client’s account to a collection firm. The client is from Valparaiso.

With some editing to protect our client’s privacy, here is the letter that I sent the hospital.

Dear Representative,

Our client is NOT ignoring a bill from your firm for a balance of $119.02 on ACCOUNT NUMBER XXXXXX for services provided on 06/03/2016.

On August 17 of this year, our client and her husband brought various bills and Medicare claims report forms to my office for my assistance to review. We phoned her insurance company and learned that Medicare never sent your claim to it. I helped the client to send a copy of her claim’s essential information to her insurance company so that it would have the claim information to process and pay your firm. That was done three weeks ago on August 17.
