SOS: Speaking of Seniors - Saved Cedar Lake Man Over $1,200
On April 26, 2016, I researched bills from two hospitals for a client from Cedar Lake, Indiana. I wrote two letters to correct over $1,200 of debt for the client.
One bill had two dates of service with two balances owed. The other bill had five dates of service with four balances owed.
As always, I phoned the client’s Medicare supplement insurance company to make sure that it got the claims from Medicare. You can’t blame an insurance company for not paying its part of a bill that Medicare never sent to it.
In each case, with both hospitals, Medicare failed to send the claims information to the senior citizen’s insurance company. In the letter that I wrote to each hospital, I explained this and asked that the hospital send the vital claims information that it had regarding the bill directly to the client’s insurance company.
I am confident that when the insurance company gets that information, it will pay the claims and our client will owe nothing more on these bills. Thus, I saved this client over $1,200.
All the help that I gave this client was FREE OF CHARGE. This insurance agency distinguishes itself from others by “going the extra mile” to help our senior citizen clients with such billing problems. After all, why should a senior citizen pay one penny more than the proper amount just because someone else in the Medicare system makes a mistake? Does your insurance agent give this high level o f service to senior citizen clients? If not, why not?
