Where Conservatives Nailed eGOP RINOs, Trump Gets a Pass

Trump_baseball_2A caller to the Rush Limbaugh show Tuesday captured perfectly my frustration with so many normally reliable conservatives who have in 2016 decided to hide their brains in the back of a closet and whore out their principles to a liberal named Donald Trump.

       BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This is Merle in Houston, it’s great to have you on the program, Merle, how are you?

CALLER:  I’m good, Rush.  Twenty years Republican Texas dittos, buddy.

RUSH:  Thank you, very much, buddy. Great to have you here.

CALLER:  A couple things.  First of all, your last caller made the point that Trump is getting hammered everywhere.  I would beg to differ because you turn on the news, turn on the Trump News Channel in the morning, you get Trump & Friends, then you have the Sean Trumpin show, you have BreitTrump.

RUSH: (laughing)

CALLER:  It’s damn ridiculous.  My main point was this.

RUSH:  Keep going.  Go ahead.

CALLER:  My main point is this.  Listen.  These Trumpets are whoring themselves out to the first millionaire that comes along and promises them the world.  And what disgusts me, Rush, is this guy is a lifelong liberal.  I don’t like the establishment, either.  So what do we do to get rid of the establishment?  We elect a liberal?  I’m angry about one thing more than the establishment.  I’m angry, I’m 43 years old, Rush, it’s the first time in my life that I have the chance to put a real, true conservative into the White House.  And it’s disgusting that these people are falling for this charlatan.

It’s also very disturbing to me because I’ve turned off your show a couple of times, Rush, and it disturbs me because I’ve been a fan for years and years and years.  What bothers me is that if Trump was doing the same things, if he was the Democrat nominee doing the same things, acting childishly as he does and denigrating women, you would be all over him.  You would be destroying him, rightfully so, because he’d be the Democrat nominee.  I don’t understand it.  The conservative world has gone crazy.

Then Rush proceeded to once again give Trump a pass, even going so far as to claim Trump’s flip-flopping really isn’t flip-flopping. Why? Because Trump isn’t a politico, he isn’t a politician.

What a bunch of crap!  I don’t know what has happened to Rush Limbaugh in the last six months or so (along with a lot of other formerly-intelligent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly). Things that he’d crucify Democrats for doing, things he’d even crucify a RINO for doing, Donald Trump just gets a pass.  Shrug of the shoulders, no big deal.

It doesn’t matter whether you used to be a politico or not. Were you a human being? Do you now claim a different position than they one you used to–and is that change something you suddenly came into around the time you started wanting votes from people, and without articulating the epiphany you went through to suddenly oppose the abortion you condoned before, to oppose the illegal aliens you embraced before, to oppose the Democrats you spent hundreds of thousands of dollars helping to elect before? And that’s just the start of the liberal positions Donald Trump has espoused.

I can understand liberal STrumpets and wishy-washing “moderate” STrumpets supporting Trump; his liberal proclivities no doubt please them.  But Donald Trump’s record of coming down on the liberal side of so many things is exactly why conservatives are fed up and ticked off at the “Republican” establishment that advances liberal policies and fights conservative ones.

I loathe the corrupt “Republican” establishment at least as much as the next conservative. But it isn’t “establishmentism” that is killing America; liberalism is killing America, and it’s the liberalism from the party that is supposed to fight liberalism that is the most vexing.

I can’t abandon the conservative principles I believe in, simply to strike out at the liberal establishment that has been making a mockery of those same conservative principles.  Support a liberal to advance conservatism?  What kind of sense does that make? None!

And I can’t understand what has gotten into conservatives who have otherwise been so reliable for years.  Has it really become too much to ask that people think–and think logically??? Are we truly seeing that strong delusion come across what was once a nation grounded in truth?
