Fascism Alive and Well in America
As George Orwell–the famous writer who tried to teach us so much about Marxism and the Left through powerful novels like 1984 and Animal Farm–once said, “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
So it is that I am very grateful for the work of Bill Whittle to continue telling an unpopular and unwelcome truth in a culture that with every passing day seems more and more deeply invested in turning its back on truth.
For approximately 70 years, the Left has worked diligently and thoroughly to distance itself from what its ideas wrought in Germany in the 1930s and early 1940s. I am sad to say that they have been largely successful, because most people today believe the Nazis were a bunch of Right-wingers. Nothing could be further from the truth.
What exactly was the Nazi Party? The “Nazi” Party means “Nationalsozialismus” in German, or “National Socialist” in English. Socialism is, as the Merriam-Webster dictionary (no conservative publication, that) tells us, “any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods” and “a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.”
What does Marxism (and all it’s philosophical children, socialism and communism) teach? Government control over property, production, and the distribution of goods. What does the Left embrace with passion and vengeance? Government control over property, production, and the distribution of goods. We see it today even in America, after we defeated the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, with the massive and unconstitutional regulation of business, the dictation to Americans of what they must and must not buy, and the massive and unconstitutional redistribution of wealth from Americans who produced that wealth to Americans who did not produce that wealth.
Note again, too, that socialism, that philosophy embraced by the National Socialists (Nazis) in Germany 80 years ago, is the intermediate or transitional stage between free market capitalism and communism. Transitional. Meaning that it is only a way point on the way to the ultimate goal: total state control of everything under communism.
But the Nazis were also described as facists, too, weren’t they? What is fascism? Again, as the dictionary tells us, fascism is often characterized by the exaltation of a people or nation, and “that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.”
In truth, socialism is really nothing more than a type or brand of fascism. Both seek to implement the will of a particular group upon all others using the brute force of government.
Of course, we now know that in time, most of the world woke up in time to realize the dark destination where socialism and other Marxist ideas lead, and the free world defeated the German manifestation of Leftist ideology. The Left learned some lessons from the river of blood that Marxism produced in Nazi Germany–though it only learned to be a better deceiver, not to abandon those bad ideas. It learned it needed to “rehabilitate” what people thought about this public display of utter barbarity…so now most people think the National Socialist Party of Germany was somehow a Right-wing, a conservative effort. The Left also learned they can’t move too far too fast too openly, and have come to operate with more subtlety, and couch their dark agenda in feel-good terms that (unless they stop to think) no decent person could really oppose.
While we don’t have a whole lot of nationalism or overt racism from the Left today (although they do let their guard down from time to time, and the politically correct silliness on the Left has reached such proportions, it might be safe to say that there IS a Leftist racism and racial preference: anything but white), we do see a whole lot of desire for “centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader,” as well as severe economic and social regimentation and forcible suppression of opposition.
In fact, these things are what the Democrat Party is all about today. They (and their minions infiltrating the Republican Party) have worked hard to subvert and ignore the U.S. Constitution’s limits on government, and have produced a federal government that now intrudes into all major areas of the private citizens it ostensibly exists to serve. It dictates that they must purchase certain products whether they want or need them, dictates what kind of products they can and cannot buy (light bulbs?), what we can and can’t do with our own property, and so forth.
And if you don’t like it, they’ll just intimidate you, punish you economically, fine you, or throw you in jail. Just ask Kim Davis…or Aaron and Melissa Klein…or the Little Sisters of the Poor…or Robert and Cynthia Gifford…or Chantell and Michael Sackett…or any of the people around this once-free nation whom government is attempting to force to do with their own property that which they find morally repugnant.
Fascism in America? Oh yeah. By the truck load, to our shame.
And as Bill Whittle’s Firewall (video below) illustrates, it isn’t just the Leftists IN government who are willing to to play the fascists. Plenty of street thug Leftists are more than willing to carry out local-level fascism in support of their overweening Leftist goals of dictatorial control in America.
I’m no fan of Donald Trump (read anything I or most of the writers have written on this website, and you’ll realize that in about five seconds), and Donald Trump even has too many fascist tendencies of his own, but the kind of Leftist agitation we’ve seen lately, involving rioting and denying people the liberty to attend a Trump speech is right up that alley of local-level fascism. That’s the Left’s modus operandi: if you can’t defeat an idea in the arena of ideas, find a way–legal or illegal–to shut that idea down.
The Left knows it can’t best conservative ideas in the arena of ideas. Conservative values such as God-given rights, limited government, liberty, personal responsibility, the free market and such are truly the progressive ideas of the world. On a level philosophical playing field, most people instinctively realize that what the Left has to offer–government determination of what your rights are and are not, autocratic government, wealth redistribution, government control of production, government regulation of our personal lives, etc–is regressive and hearkens back to the unenlightened times when it was believed that average people could not be trusted to run their own lives, that ordinary citizens needed their “betters” to think for them and tell them what to do for their own good.
We stand at a crossroads in America: fascism or freedom, and it doesn’t matter whether the fascism is coming from Donald Trump or people with a “D” after their name. We can choose to surrender our God-given right of freedom and self-determination to the government collective, and re-enter the age of darkness that comes with it. Or we can choose to reject this putrefying offer and instead reclaim the heritage of liberty that our nation’s founders bought in blood for us 240 years ago, and that every generation since then has worked to pass on to us.
I don’t know about you, but I reject fascism from both the “D”s and the “R”s. I want to live the rest of my days in liberty, and want my children to live their lives in the animating contest of freedom.
Don’t you?
