SOS: Speaking of Seniors - Lucky Senior Saved Money

St_Patricks_Day_4_Leaf_clover_luckyOn Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2016, a client visited my office to ask me what some documents meant. She had received the documents by mail. The client is an 84 year old woman from Merrillville, Indiana.

I reviewed the documents with her and explained them. The good news was that a letter that I had written for her on January 27 had worked to fix her medical billing problem. In that case, Medicare refused to pay anything because the medical service provider failed to file the claim properly with Medicare. So, the medical service provider sent a bill to our client for $172.

In my letter to the medical service provider, I cited Medicare claims rules and quoted the ruling by Medicare that it was the medical service provider that caused the problem – not our 84 year old client.

My letter to the medical service provider enlightened someone there to refile the claim correctly. The $172 bill to our client disappeared. She’s not Irish, but she felt very lucky to have my help to get rid of the wrongful medical bill.

All the help that I gave this client was FREE OF CHARGE. This insurance agency distinguishes itself by “going the extra mile” for our clients and helping them with such problems without any extra charge for our service. We do our best to protect our senior citizen clients from financial harm that is caused when someone in the Medicare system makes a mistake. (That happens often and I am quite busy working to correct such problems.) Does your insurance agency give this high level of service to its senior citizen clients? If not, why not?
