PierreCap1041The South Dakota Legislature is scheduled to consider several important bills today.

HB 1157 would require that a doctor provide a woman additional information as a part of informed consent prior to performing an abortion. The bill deals primarily with providing information to a woman about drug-induced abortions and the options if she changes her mind after taking an abortion-inducing drug.

HB 1158 calls for greater state and local involvement in the settlement of refugees in our state. You may recall that with the recent Syrian refugee problem and acts of international terrorism, there has been a great deal of concern about refugees coming to our state, and the amount of coordination between the federal and state government on this issue.

HB 1142 would prohibit businesses from prohibiting employees from storing firearms and ammunition in a locked vehicle parked at the business.

SB 72 is scheduled to be heard by the Senate  Health and Human Services Committee. SB 72 seeks to protect unborn children from being aborted if they are sufficiently developed to be capable of feeling pain. The bill was heard in committee and amended last week but did not receive an up or down vote in committee yet.

HB 1107 seeks to protect religious liberty from the radical sexual agenda of the Left.  The bill passed out of  committee last week and is scheduled to be heard before  the full House today.
