US Not in Top 10 Most Economically Free

economic_freedomThe Heritage Foundation has released the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom, and the results are not good for what was once the most free and prosperous nation on earth–in history.

The index looks at business, trade, government, and policy to determine the level of economic freedom in a given country.  As would make sense, countries that have a business-friendly tax code and policies that encourage innovation score highest, while countries that burden their people with regulation, repression and interference in the free market score lower.

We were already sliding before President Obama, thanks to Democrat and RINO congresses, but the situation has worsened under the Marxist in the White House.

We were #6 in the world when Barack Obama became president. Now we are #11.

From the Daily Signal:

  • Government spending has exploded, amounting to $29,867 per household in 2015.
  • The national debt has risen to $125,000 for every tax filing household in America—a total over $18 trillion.
  • The government takeover of health care is raising prices and disrupting markets.
  • Bailouts and new government regulations have increased uncertainty, stifling investment and job creation.

It is clear that if Americans want to continue be as prosperous as we have, or even want to return to our historical place at the top of the world, we need to end our self-destructive flirtation with socialism and big government, and return to the principles that made us the greatest nation in history in the first place.

Key to doing that is to throw out on their rear ends people in congress who have demonstrated hostility or even ambivalence toward those founding American principles.  Look closely at Conservative Review’s scorecard; you might find that YOUR congressman or senator, who you thought was doing a good job, is letting the country and YOU down.

We also need a president at the helm of the country, behind the bully pulpit which drives so much policy in the nation, that understands the founding principles of the United States which brought us so much success and freedom.  When we look at the evidence–not the rhetoric, but the record–the choice there becomes crystal clear.

Let’s restore America to greatness and freedom!
