What Christmas is Really About
By Mason Chandler
In recent years, the world has put a lot of emphasis on things like Santa Claus, elves, and the latest and greatest toys. While there’s nothing wrong with these things, that’s not what Christmas is really about.
Some 2,000 years ago, a little baby was laid in a manger in Bethlehem. Angels sang to shepherds in the fields of these wondrous events, and three wise men carried gifts to hail the newborn king. And one day, this little baby would carry upon his shoulders the sins of the world, and die on a wooden cross so that we “should not perish, but have everlasting life¹.” And that is what Christmas is really about.
So this Christmas, have fun, but don’t forget what brought Christmas to be. God bless, and merry Christmas.
