Free Market: The Most Moral, Efficient System There Is

This used to be fundamentally and almost universally understood in America, nearly instinctively.  You didn’t even really need to teach it in schools or anywhere else. It was “Duh!” obvious.

But after over 50 years of Marxist indoctrination in America’s colleges and public schools, as well as over 50 years of incessant pro-Marxist and anti-free market drumming by the “mainstream” media, even quite a few so-called “conservatives” are willing and eager to undermine capitalism and promote big government (so long as it promotes their pet cause).

So any and all efforts like this video from economist Dr. Walter E. Williams and Prager University are very welcome in reacquainting the American people with their unique heritage of freedom and prosperity through the free market system.

It is not moral to take property earned by one person from them without their consent and give it to another person who has not earned it.  That is theft. That is plunder.  That is immoral.  As President Thomas Jefferson said in his first inaugural address:

A wise and frugal government … shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government.

It is also inefficient, as such systems always require a number of people to handle the redistribution of wealth…and each of them requires a portion of the money being redistributed for their own sustenance.  It also breeds corruption–corruption in the system, which, out of self-preservation, looks for ways to continue to perpetuate itself regardless of whether there is genuine need, and corruption in those who are receiving property they have not earned.

Freedom always was and always will be the superior way of life.  Of course, if you’re a slug who wants to live off the hard work of other people, or a tyrant who likes to tell other people what to do, you don’t like (other people’s) freedom so much.

Freedom and limited government: it’s the American way.  Let’s get back to it. Let’s get back to prosperity. Let’s get back to greatness.
