Satanic Statue Comes to Detroit; Is There No Price to Pay?

DetroitAfter a long reign as the auto capital of the world, the beleaguered city of Detroit was last seen (2012) asking President Obama to bail them out since over 75 percent of them pulled the levers to get him re-elected to office. Now the city has become the host of Satan’s statue complete with two adoring, admiring and worshipping children as part of the display.

On July 25, 2015 the city plunged to a new low as city leaders decided to allow the unveiling of the one ton statue of Satan (Baphomet) to be unveiled by the “Satanic Temple” after being rejected by the State of Oklahoma.

Following the unveiling, a party was held in the warehouse district that, after being rained out, produced about 400 revelers, while some estimate the crowd was upwards of 700 people, who noisily partied under the banner of a lighted inverted cross.

Why would a city almost destroyed by economic woes place the statue of what the Bible calls “the destroyer” in its neighborhoods and follow up with a party?

This question is the easiest to answer since some of the other appellations of Satan, who is referred to nine times as the destroyer, give a strong clue to the clueless. Satan is the one who leaves the nations “desolate” (Dan 9: 27); how easy is it for him to leave a single city in a heap of rubble?

The second question is far more serious.

Why does the statue come with adoring children?

People paid $75.00 to be photographed sitting on the statue and in some cases groping each other – all done figuratively in the presence of children. Is this tacit confirmation of child abuse in the minds of the satanically seduced?

Isn’t this carrying the effort to enforce the separation of “church and state” a bit too far? This is more like – separation of people from their brains.

Some would say, since the unveiling roused only a mere 400 adherents, there shouldn’t be much to worry about. There is not a national trend toward worshipping Satan underfoot.

The statue of Baphomet is symptomatic of a generation long delivering of our children to Satan’s front door. Educators, Hollywood, media, loose politicians and apostate churches are all ushering the little ones into the Godlessness that is prophetically promised to precede the emergence of Satan in the flesh, otherwise known as the antichrist.

Is there no price to pay for this?

There is a terrible price to pay.

“The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.” (Eze 18: 20)

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Ro 6: 23)

Lining our children up to face spiritual death is a kind of child abuse that may not invoke the intervention of child services, but has far more deadly consequences than the imagination is capable of understanding.

The amazing thing about the gospel message is that God has decided that no one needs to pay up if they wise up. He is the propitiation for our sins, and that is a theological way of saying what is blaringly simple: he has paid the price for us by his death on the cross of Calvary. Through simple repentance and starting off in a new direction, we can get that bill marked “paid in full.”

Sadly, many believe that a person pays for his own sins, and nations are not held accountable – not so. The death of nations, including ours, is always on the table in God’s economy.

“If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, and if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I intended to do to it.” (Jeremiah 18:7-8 ESV)

In 1989, the Cashbox Magazine listed author Harold McWhorter’s song, “Sin Will Take You Farther,” as number 1, and it remained there for eleven months. McWhorter was the principal of Tallapoosa High School and worked in the Georgia public school system for many years.

McWhorter summarized the plight of many people today who, after waltzing down many darkened pathways that lead to despair, they realize that sin is not only the only thing at the end of the path, but it is what gives full definition to the term “dead-end.”

As a child I foolishly turned God away
Not knowing the heartache a sinner must face
But God in His goodness has let me return
To share with His children this lesson I’ve learned

Sin will take you farther than you want to go
Slowly but wholly taking control
Sin will leave you longer than you want to stay
Sin will cost you far more than you want to pay

How far will we go as a nation before we can say these words?

Time is not on our side.

Really Detroit, a statue of Satan with adoring children?

Erecting this statue is truly dreadful - thou what else could one expect from a city which voted 75% for obama? But the fact is that there is no single such person as THE Antichrist. John’s 1st & 2nd letters are explicit: antichrists existed as contemporaries of John’s - they were (and are) anyone who denied that Christ is The Messiah and came in the flesh. There have always been many antichrists.

But there will be one “Man of Perdition,” as foretold in Scripture, who will be Satan’s final, powerful emissary in the last conflict before Christ’s return.

As Christians we should focus more on obeying God and less on man-made theories about divine Facts. Really, we hop & skip thru the Bible cutting and pasting together man-made theories - and neglect even the Ten Commandments. E.g., “Thou shalt not steal”. Americans love plunder - they love living at other peoples’ expense - even Christian Americans. Same with envy - I see envy & resentment all the time among Christians. Our Pastors need to be talking to us about our SINS and not esoteric and debatable theories about future events. God is VERY EXPLICIT about what He wants us to do and not do. But we ignore the clear stuff to focus on speculating about the esoteric. This has been a terrible problem for modern Christians.

My understanding of “Satanism” is that so-called “Satanists” don’t actually even believe in Satan, but merely celebrate what he (as, in their minds, a fictional character) represents: rebellion against God (or the idea of God) and everything that (falsely) promises.

I think there are several of brands of Satanists, and the more bizarre, anarchist conspicuous types that flaunt their beliefs like these who unveiled this idol are indeed likely the types that don’t believe in the discreet personality Satan.

I think the ones who do believe are actually more low-key and normal appearing in society, although just as damned.
