South Dakota Legislative Billwatch, Feb. 20, 2015
It’s going to be a very busy day in Pierre, today. Ctizien, guard your freedom–and your wallet–very closely!
Today the South Dakota legislature is looking at bills involving natural resource conservation (a favorite vehicle for radical environmentalists who want to limit the way we use our property or other freedom–and usually put the taxpayer and/or consumer on the hook in the process), abortion, prostitution, prenatal testing for Down syndrome, immunization, female genital mutilation, and more.
There are also important good bills like HB 1220 to protect religious freedom from homosexual activists. Two such bills were shot down by the “Republicans” supermajority last year, and our “Republican” governor Dennis Daugaard even tried to throw the sponsor of one of these bills under the bus as a “racist” because of it last year. So don’t think freedom will get an easy walk in the “Republican” supermajority legislature when we have liberals like this passing for “Republicans” in our state.
We also have liberals attempting to expand the unconstitutional Medicaid program in our state–something our “Republican” governor would love to do if he could find a way to get away with it politically.
The Left is also launching another attack on marriage and family by promoting no-fault divorce in South Dakota–as if marriage and family weren’t already under enough of a withering attack.
There are also some of those “empty shell” bills like HB 1169 and 1171 that contain no meaningful bill, but will be gutted to insert Lord knows what.
May God have mercy on South Dakota.
