Why Pragmatism Fails

“Rational discussion, or an appeal to a final norm, cannot solve disagreements over what “works”; therefore, the group with the most power wins when pragmatism is wholly embraced.” –RC Sproul

Pragmatism is seen as one of the highest virtues in politics and government. Unfortunately, a moral standard (and defined truth) is ultimately defeated by the truly pragmatic. So don’t be surprised when short-term political goals trump the truly ethical and righteous course. Ultimately, the party with the most power to manipulate and perpetuate a surface perception of compassion and equality will seize ultimate control. What is right and most proper can be easily deferred for what is sensuous, desirous and immediate (especially when ultimate consequences and greater realities are rendered insignificant).

I think the liberal-minded elites truly believe that if they could force public opinion that they can bring about a better way and a brighter tomorrow. Sincerely ‘good’ intentions may lie in the hearts of many of these progressives who believe they are acting on behalf of the greater humanity.

I will be the first to say that the Christian way is often not an easy one. Some days it feels quite self-defeating (but such is the natural tendency of man). I need to prove myself and rise above my self-serving ways, but how often is it merely an exercise in futility. How often must I learn, time and time again, that there is one eternally and exponentially greater than I who carries me. This is also my desire for all of you!

God Bless you all and may the year 2015 be the ultimate Year of The Lord!

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
