When it comes to the issues at hand concerning our culture, we can clearly see that the majority of professed Christians are guilty of contributing to America’s state of moral anarchy (which they so boldly proclaim), proven by their support of antinomianism and the effeminate lifestyles they perpetuate.

A prophet of old once said “my people perish for lack of knowledge.” Today, our stunning lack of knowledge of what it is we’re really celebrating this weekend means we could be the generation that sees liberty perish in America.

Americans have the wrong idea about the Fourth of July. Perhaps it is due to the fireworks displays celebrating the holiday, giving the appearance of a bombardment suitable for the flag still being there at Fort McHenry as memorialized by Francis Scott Key in our national anthem. But America is unique.

America does not get a pass. She never did. But once you take her down, the evils inherent in the rest of the world (and at the table of the UN) becomes all the more apparent. The match has been lit. We didn’t start the fire. But I fear it’s about to get a whole lot hotter. We may want to be prepared.

This is probably my favorite scene from the HBO miniseries “John Adams” a few years ago, based on the book by David McCullough. I had the honor and pleasure of standing in the room where that vote was taken, some 10 months ago with my family. What an incredible experience! Few events have more profoundly affected world history as much or more than the vote taken in that room on that day.

So many good comments here. From the ones who say they would be outraged and/or cry at the way we’ve departed from the path they created…to the fact that even with all our faults, America is STILL the best place on earth to live by a longshot.
