The evidence continues to roll in that ObamaCare is a typical federal government program: one that makes worse what it purported to “fix.”

Our founders didn’t recognize things like the “Stamp Act” and the “Townshend Act” as lawful. This is why the Declaration of Independence refers to these enactments as “pretended legislation.” “Pretended Legislation”! So, here is one crucial thing that our ancestors knew that we seem to have forgotten: There are objective standards by which to determine if the acts of legislatures or executives or courts are lawful.

The rule of law is officially dead in America. Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), a former chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has been placed on the ballot for re-election by a federal district judge in spite of universal agreement that he didn’t meet the plain-language election filing requirements.

Homosexuals are retaliating against Mississippi for protecting Christians and businesses against homosexual activists with a “We don’t discriminate” sticker campaign. If you see one of these stickers, you know the business either pushes the homosexual agenda, or is collaborating with the homosexual agenda.

They are the freedom fighters, the oath keepers. They are not expendable, but are heroes nonetheless! They bleed red, white and blue. Fighting multiple wars, they have left family and friends behind. They sacrifice their lives while we, all too often, are merely killing time.

For Christians lucky enough to live in the free West, we have in large part become complacent and apathetic. Our embrace of relativism and our addiction to material things, coupled with our self-obsession, has dulled our sense of the Transcendent and diminished our faith. We take our freedom and our God for granted. What will it take to rekindle the vision of Christian martyrs past?
