A bill to require drug testing for welfare recipients was once again considered this year in the South Dakota Legislature, and was once again killed in committee by the “Republican” supermajority legislature. “Republican” Governor Dennis Daugaard was also opposed to the bill.

Expanding Gambling as Americans Lose $119 BILLION Last Year
Last week the South Dakota House State Affairs Committee gave its approval to an expansion of gambling in Deadwood, even after hearing testimony about the societal ills gambling causes. Yesterday, HB 1246 was introduced in the South Dakota House to increase the maximum bet limit and to eliminate the award limit on video lottery games. Meanwhile, a new report reveals record gambling losses worldwide, with the United States leading the way.
