Jan. 24 South Dakota Legislative Billwatch
These are some of the bills in the 2014 South Dakota Legislature we’re watching at American Clarion. These are coming up for consideration in committee or by the full Senate or House legislative body.
Some of these involve taxation, which is always of importance to any taxpaying citizen.
HCR 1005 is a resolution urging our federal government to recognize and secure the blessings of liberty for our posterity–something our founding documents recognize, but which many in government hold in contempt.
HB 1065 is a Second Amendment bill sponsored by Rep. Betty Olson and several other representatives to remove the fee charged for a concealed carry permit in South Dakota. Why should you be penalized and have to pay to exercise your Second Amendment right?
SB 76 would clarify that people may kill a mountain lion if their safety is threatened or their animals are threatened by the predators. We would hope our government could make such a common-sense determination without spelling it out…but how often is any level of government these days capable of making common-sense determinations?
