When I was growing up, we were a small farming family and poorer than most Americans will ever know. Yet we didn’t take food stamps. We didn’t get on welfare. We sucked it up and took care of ourselves. But there has been a full court press, going back to the time of President Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society”, to slaughter shame and healthy pride, and convince people to leech off the hard work of others. So what you hear about in this Fox News report on welfare is nothing new, but with USDA serial radio ads about “Happiness Park” which sell dependence, the effort is reaching new and despicable lows.

You have a right to self-ownership and are protected from others taking your life. You have a right to freedom of speech and are protected from others silencing you. You have a right to the pursuit of happiness and are protected from others deciding the use of your life. But health care is not a right.
