Once more we learn of military personnel being punished for causing homosexuals in the military to feel bad. An Army chaplain’s assistant has been accused of creating a “hostile and antagonistic” environment for saying homosexuality is a sin on her Facebook page. She has been threatened with a fine and demotion if she does not remove the post. She says she will not remove it.

What if everything you think you know about something turns out to be wrong? Does it force you to evaluate everything else, or do you just shrug your shoulders? When the government either gets duped or more insidiously, is a co-conspirator in what could be a big lie, suddenly it is taxpayer money being spent and that should get people’s attention.

The Bible is a book of bad news and good news. First the bad news: Human beings are sinners. None of us likes bad news, and it’s natural to avoid it. That’s a bitter pill to swallow, but it’s not the end of the story. However, it’s surprising to see a church edit the news as reported in the Bible and rewrite it so that it will be more palatable to its congregants.

Two years ago this Tuesday, on August 6th, 2011, Muslim animals ambushed and shot down an American Chinook helicopter, the Extortion 17, west of Kabul, Afghanistan. All 38 men and one military working dog on board were killed, including 25 special operations personnel, of which 15 were members of the elite Navy Seal Team 6. On this day, Americans all across the nation will hold protest rallies on highway overpasses to demand the impeachment of the criminal-in-chief, Barack Obama (or whatever his name is).

Despite the steady hue and cry by government agencies about the need for more police, more sophisticated weaponry, and the difficulties of preserving the peace and maintaining security in our modern age, the reality is far different. Police agencies throughout the country are dramatically increasing in size and scope. Some of the nation’s larger cities boast police forces the size of small armies.

The question was asked, “When do you think Jesus will return?” Today, next week, next year, in a hundred years — I think the question of when God’s final judgement comes overshadows the greater issue of why it is to come. The important thing, as I see it, is not to examine the “when” of God’s judgement or the coming age, but the “why” of it all.
