Want to make a massive dent in poverty in America? Stop undermining marriage and start shoring it up.As this recent information from the Heritage Foundation’s Foundry shows, marriage reduces the likelihood of child povety by 82%. If we’re really serious about reducing poverty, we don’t need welfare checks-we need government to behave responsibly and expect responsibility from our citizens.

With a growing population in the 21st Century, increased demand for electricity is a certainty, particularly in the summer months. That means more power plants will be needed here in the future. Instead, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations are threatening to shut down about 285 coal-fired power plants, says a recent analysis from an industry group.

Today, with the George Zimmerman verdict being old news, it appears that there is more to this entire episode. Too much was made of an unfortunate clash between youthful exuberance at best, and authority. Especially so when one takes into account all the violence which is ongoing throughout our country. So, what is it that selectively churns this media mill?

This is a great clip from what must have been a great sermon by Dr. James David Manning, senior pastor at the ATLAH World Missionary Church in New York City. In it, Pastor Manning points out that those who think-either without reviewing the evidence or despite the evidence-George Zimmerman is guilty of murdering Trayvon Martin are not looking at the matter through the right eyes. Instead of looking at it through objective eyes, they are looking at it through “black eyes” (and there are some white folks who are making the same mistake, too).

In heaven there is no room for racism. That includes making bogus accusations of racism for any bad thing that happens. Christians need to be putting into practice Biblical principles, not political agendas. If you are truly concerned about oppressive and inhumane treatment of people based on race and ethnicity, then take a closer look at what is happening to Africans who live in such horrible conditions they are forced to try to escape, only to be enslaved and tortured. And I’m talking about right now, today, not a century and a half ago.
