Why Is Christianity Losing in America: Becoming Citizens of God’s Kingdom

When I write “Christianity is losing in America,” of course I don’t mean that God or, by extension, his kingdom is failing. The kingdom of God comes in force unlike anything else in creation. It is the present form of Christianity—uniquely influenced by American culture—that is failing precisely because it has been enculturated with ideas foreign to the kingdom of God and the good news of the kingdom.

Demoralizers of the Faith

As the initial stages of the George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin case proceeds, the media is again resurrecting the issue of racism… and not too far behind are the modern day self-proclaimed civil rights leaders. After listening to their divisive rhetoric (only to help along the administration’s tactic of divide and conquer), I couldn’t help but notice how far off the modern day civil rights leaders are from the creed of the civil rights movement in the 1960’s, led by Martin Luther King Jr.

Voters need some skin in the game

Thomas Jefferson said “Freedom is lost gradually from an uninterested, uninformed, and uninvolved people.” Voting is considered optional and requires a conscious effort to register and actually vote in a given election. Meanwhile, voters are many times apathetic and misinformed on the issues and vote accordingly. When half of the voters cast their ballots in hope of electing someone who will give them more goodies from the treasury, this country may have entered a death spiral. How can we break out of that?
