SD Sec. of State Issues Economic Report for 1st Quarter

South Dakota Secretary of State Jason Gant has issued the Secretary of State’s Economic Report for the 1st Quarter of 2013 based on corporate registration data. Gant stated, “Limited Liability Companies (LLC’s) continue to lead new filings with approximately 54% of all new filings in the first quarter. There were a total of 2,038 new filings in the first quarter, up from 1,958 in the fourth quarter of 2012.”

In 2009, our client visited a hospital emergency room to complain about severe pain. The medical personnel determined that he needed an appendix removed. The hospital did the procedure and our client stayed in the hospital until he was well enough to return home. Medicare refused to pay substantial parts of the bill. The hospital appealed. The appeal was just finished this year – from 2009 to 2013. Medicare still refused to pay much of the bill. But, Medicare ruled that the hospital – and not our client – should pay or “eat” the disputed bill.
