Stand Up for Religious Freedom in Rapid City

On October 20, tens of thousands of faithful citizens will gather in prayer and public witness in cities and towns all across the United States to oppose the HHS mandate and stand up in defense of our religious freedoms.

What is the HHS mandate and how does it attack religious freedom?

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has issued a mandate under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) that requires employer health plans to include free contraceptives, sterilizations and abortion-inducing drugs, regardless of moral or religious convictions.

The HHS mandate provides a “religious exemption” so narrow that it excludes such religious ministries as educating the young, caring for the sick and feeding the hungry. Religious employers like Catholic schools and hospitals will be forced to provide services that directly contradict Catholic teaching.

The HHS mandate is an unprecedented attack on religious freedom, and we must oppose it!

Those who live in or around Rapid City who are concerned about religious freedom and the attack being perpetrated upon it  can join together in downtown Rapid City at the Federal Building, 9th and St. Joseph Street on Saturday, October 20 at noon.

This is the freedom that our earliest American ancestors braved long and dangerous sea voyages to attain. It is also the freedom our nation’s founders considered so important that it was the first part of the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights.
