More than 1,200 pastors in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico have registered to participate in Alliance Defending Freedom’s fifth annual Pulpit Freedom Sunday. This is the first year that all 50 states plus D.C. and Puerto Rico will be represented. Registration, which continues until Oct. 7, so far has reached a record participation of more than double last year’s.

Won’t Back Down on Good Education

Won’t Back Down on Good Education

When California passed the parent trigger law in 2010, one California Federation of Teachers newsletter referred to it as a “lynch mob provision.” It’s safe to say this California law, with similar versions of it found in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas, is upsetting to the teachers unions. Why? The core of this law allows parents at a consistently failing school to strip the power away from the teachers unions and school district.

Farm Labor Regulations: Nominations Matter

Farm Labor Regulations: Nominations Matter

President Ronald Reagan famously said, “Personnel is policy,” and not surprisingly, he was 100 percent right. That’s why Americans for Limited Government urged Senators Jon Tester to oppose the nomination of Patricia Smith to the office of Solicitor of the Department of Labor. As the Solicitor Patricia Smith approves every single regulation that goes through the Department. This makes her one of the most powerful people in D.C. when it comes to labor laws like the one that was proposed that would have greatly restricted the ability of young people to participate in many normal farm activities, threatening the way of life in rural America.

‘Democrats have declared war on Christians’

‘Democrats have declared war on Christians’

Bishop E. W. Jackson, founder of Staying True to America’s National Destiny (S.T.A.N.D.) spoke at the National Press Club on September 10 to call for an exodus of believing Christians and Jews from the Democrat Party. Bishop Jackson believes that the Democrat Party has become antithetical to Judeo-Christian values and it is imperative for all believers to stand for what we believe by rejecting Democrat candidates at all levels. Bishop Jackson addresses several issues, but considers the notion of “same-sex marriage” to be a particular abomination, which alone should cause believers to rebel against Democrats. Listening to Bishop Jackson’s remarks gave me a boost this morning like I haven’t experienced in some time.

How Much Should I Have Saved Toward Retirement?

How Much Should I Have Saved Toward Retirement?

You can use the analogy of the pioneers on the Oregon Trail as a way to think about your retirement planning. These stalwart individuals mapped which landmarks would show they were making progress and what they needed to do to reach each of them. They set out in late April or early May from Independence, Missouri, with the daunting goal of crossing the mountains and reaching their new home before the first snows closed the pass.

Don’t Surrender Without a Fight

Don’t Surrender Without a Fight

The 47% are going to vote for “Give me more!” no matter what you say, so you might as well say what might motivate the undecided to finally decide and vote for freedom. This election will be won or lost in the debates. If Mitt Romney will stand up and say what he means and mean what he says, and if he will make a case for returning to Constitutional government he will win. If he soft pedals for fear of making a mistake or offending someone, he will deliver the Republic to the fate of all past republics: financial collapse and ruin.

A Time to Preach and a Time to Fight

A Time to Preach and a Time to Fight

“In the language of the Holy Writ, there is a time for all things. There is a time to preach and a time to fight.” Thus ended the sermon of 30-year-old pastor John Peter Muhlenberg as he removed his clerical robes to reveal a uniform in the Continental Army. After church, 300 men of his congregation rode off with him to join General Washington’s 8th Virginia regiment. Born OCTOBER 1, 1746, John Peter Muhlenberg died the same day in 1807.
