More than 1,000 Pastors to Challenge Unconstitutional IRS Regs

The number of pastors registered to participate in Alliance Defending Freedom’s fifth annual Pulpit Freedom Sunday has exceeded 1,000, nearly doubling last year’s participation. Registration continues until Oct. 7, so the number continues to rise. “Pastors should decide what they preach from the pulpit, not the IRS,” said Senior Legal Counsel Erik Stanley. “It’s outrageous for pastors and churches to be threatened or punished by the government for applying biblical teachings to all areas of life, including candidates and elections.”

South Dakota Reverses Course on ObamaCare

South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced today that the state of South Dakota will not operate a state health insurance exchange but will maintain control of insurance regulation in South Dakota. Unless the federal healthcare law is repealed, a health insurance exchange must be operated in every state by 2014. The federal government will directly operate and fund exchanges in those states choosing not to operate state-run exchanges. South Dakota joins other states that have chosen not to run their own exchanges.

Daniel Boone served with George Washington in 1755 during the French and Indian War. In 1765, Daniel Boone explored Florida. In 1778, during the Revolution, Daniel Boone went to Blue Licks to get salt for his settlement but was captured by Shawnee Indians and taken to Detroit. He learned of British plans to incite Indians to attack his settlement, so he escaped and ran nearly 400 miles in 5 days to warn Boonseboro. Daniel Boone became a Major in the militia and served in Virginia’s legislature.
